I would like to find a charter for Walleye in particular, perch and smallmouth a plus. I've trolled for them and found it terribly boring and just a meat run. It's no real fun fighting a fish with a dipsy or extra weight on the line.

Looking for jig or bait fishing unless someone can tell me a more fun method (planers with light line?). I'm located in the Finger Lakes of NY so probably looking at Lake Erie, Buffalo, NY or Erie, PA maybe travel into Ohio if need be. Is Lake Ontario any good for Walleye? Rochester or Sodus Bay area?

I haven’t ever fished your area so this may be of no help. Down here we do all our Walleye and Saugeye fishing trolling Rapalas and Berkeley FlickerShad. No fighting gear that way, I agree with you on fighting them with a bouncer or something attached it isn’t that much fun. When I was a kid and they ran up the creek here we’d fish them with ultralight gear and Blakemore Roadrunners, it was a blast.

I've trolled for landlocks using planer boards and light gear and found that to be a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind something like that but I went for walleye once trolling with heavy gear to get it down and out but all you feel reeling it in is the gear not the fish.

The fun of walleye fishing is hunting them, which is to say quite a lot.
