Does anyone know for certain whether JB Weld is completely impervious to Ethanol 85 gas? I need to secure an aluminum fitting inside a sump on an aluminum fuel tank and I'd rather not weld it, if I can avoid it. I've got about an inch of length on a 15/16" diameter cylindrical fitting with damn near a press fit into a sandpaper roughened hole of the same length in the bottom of the sump so I have lots of surface to adhere to, but at the same time, I don't want it falling out in 10 years and it will be soaking in gasoline continually. If not JB Weld, can anyone recommend another product? TIA.

If you EVER want it welded or think there's a possibility that it'll need welded do not JB weld it. I know this very well as I do lots of aluminum welding repair work.

Epoxy doesn't like a real tight fit.
Too much is squeezed out and you lose strength.
Go to a good hardware/auto parts store and look at their selection.
They will have some rated for gasoline.
Know any A&P mechanics?
I get 3M epoxy used on airplanes from one.
For that use thgey adhere to a strict shelf life, and discard
while it's still good. Works great on gas tanks
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

I've been practicing with a new Tig set up and I absolutely suck at it, hence the JB Weld question.  Guess I should keep practicing.

Can you solder/sweat it (like a copper plumbing fitting), or is there not enough room to get to it???

Why don't I just learn to TIG weld! That is my underlying problem. I might have to farm it out.

I could sweat it like copper. Does that work on Aluminum?? Yeah it works pretty good just make sure you clean it up with a mixture of bleach and ammonia first.
