The first one started after about five pulls on the rope,....
That's why God gave us Honda generators.
I still have not got the second unit to fire. I will pull on it for a few minutes tomorrow, then it is going back to home depot.
With that model of Generac you have two unique things.
The 'off' position also shuts off the fuel valve.
When cold, putting it in the 'choke' position opens the fuel valve.
Putting it in the choke/open fuel position and letting it set for a few minutes before pulling the recoil may allow sufficient fuel flow to fill the carburetor first, just a guess.
There is a 'economy' mode switch dead center of the control panel beside the 120 volt outlet that has to be in the 'off' position to start the generator,
be sure and check that.Generac generators seem to always have fickle little start up procedures.
My first was in a RV I'd purchased, you had to grind on the starter for a few seconds then let it set for a a few, then hit the starter and it'd fire right up. Obviously it needed to pump some gas into the carburetor first, the carb either drains off or the gas just evaporates after sitting for a spell, no big deal.
That was my start up procedure for a couple years with that generator.
Well, one day I took this neighbor kid hunting with me, we'd just got in from hunting all day and I asked him to go start the generator while I knocked down our saddles and fed the horses.
It was taking him a while so I glanced over and saw he had the generator hatch open on the side of the RV and was diddling around in there. About then the generator fired right up, first crank.
When I got to the RV I told the kid there was a remote stop/start right by the sink in the RV, he didn't have to use the one on the generator.
He said he was aware of that but he wanted to check the oil first...can't argue with that.
Couple days later we were in the RV and decided we'd nuke some stouffer's lasagna for dinner, that would require the microwave which would require the generator.
The kid was by the sink, I asked him to start the generator.
He hits the start switch and there is just a faint noise, I'm like wtf, we got a dead battery? The kid says no, I'm just priming it. I was like huh? He says yeah, you hold the start switch in the off position to engage the auto primer.. the generator started first crank.
Asked him how the hell did he figure that out.
He said it said so on the start up procedure list out on the generator.
Kids can be such smart azzes.
