I dont think I have gone this long into a season without killing a bird.
April 9th for some reason sticks in my mind as the previous date.

Aint heard a gobble yet, but think I heard a hen faint tree yelping behind me.

Lots more hunters out this morning in surrounding areas.

Cause it aint raining on "precious" this morning.
Lol!!!

Got more trees around me this morning to get my gun up.
Cant see hus eyeballs they cant see mine or the slow movement of getting the gun up.
Same with WTD...

Yesterday I kinda parallel offset to the dekes along the road and had trees somewhat to cover getting the gun up.

This spot is about 100 yds east from yesterday and a better set up I took care of before I left yesterday.

Still no gobbling.
Did some soft tree yelping and then a fly down cackle while shaking my hat.
Wind might be working against me, blowing about 7 or 10 mph as far as sound carrying with or against it.

Is what it is.
Turkey hunting....
Better than being at the house.
Cant kill em watching a show about waffen SS tankers or mowing the grass.

LOL!!!

Just threw out 2 series of hen assembly yelping and some putts.
Shut down on calling now.
Throw out couple exited cackles with the slate and little yelping with the mouth call in 15 mins.
Then shut down again.

Aint heard any shots yet from any surrounding areas.

Unlike Bear I just go home each night and not a motel room.

I bet he hit buffets in town to get the eating worms or drinking his own pee taste outta his mouth from the days filming.

Homie dont eat worms or drink his own pee...
And Cici,s is a pretty good feed bag event for under 10 bucks!!!!

More time = more chance.

This strip of woods along the south EW border of the DZ.
Is about 1.5 miles long and varies from 300 to 600 yds wide.
State Hwy 79 is just to the south along its length.
These birds coulda moved on following hens feeding.
Its just strange this being the only stand of mature unharvested pines in the area, with established roosting trees from the sign I have seen with curly turds all over the ground.
That they aint returning to the area in the evenings to roost.

They might be silent in here.
But I never heard anything fly down in here yesterday morning.
Last monday it was gobble mania in here.

21 is a spot they open on weekends mostly.

I will try it again.

Focusing alot on Ft Campbell this year.
Season was shut down for 26 hunting days last spring due to the scamdemic...
Gotta be some nice age progression birds around now.

I,m gonna leave my schit stashed here and run and gun to the west around 9.
Gotta come back this way to get to the truck.

See if can get on one or see fresh scratching or other sign.
Cant see if these birds have moved on if I dont take a stroll myself.
Same area they played jedi mind fugg on me last saturday on the opener for 3 or 4 hrs running and gunning.

Cant head east.
Other hunters more than likely in that direction.
Dont wanna fugg anyone up and sure as fugg dont wanna get shot at.

You need ta get out and throw some shots man.
You know as well as any archer .
That cold bow 1st shot is the money shot.
And the mind game and muscle memory
is 90% of shooting a bow.

The fresh confidence in the mind thing.

Yeah, I'll get on it today. I'm real good with a recurve so it won't take much to get it back. Plus I keep my shots real close, usually set the dekes out at 8 yards. Luckily turkeys are so dumb they don't get spooked by a blind...at all.

Big azz tom in center of this pic in the feild.
Bout 450 500 yd out
4x pic.
Been watching him thru binos.
Can see a good outline of beard.
No hens around him at all....
Threw my loudest mouth call at him.
Fanning out each time.
He had to get out their from the east corner field below the slope to my right about 300 yds away.
So many folds in the terrian at this distance I dont know if he is coming into me or fugging around in the feild below terrian mask.

Aint gonna run and gun to the west now.
Sit here till noon.
Then slowly make my way east staying 25 30 yds inside the woodline and try to get eyes into this lower field and see if I can spot him and try to call him in.

Might get busted...
Nothing to lose and everything to gain sorta thing.
