That's about the new normal, from what I've seen. Being that it's Winchester, you know that it's really fresh because they just took over Lake City 6-8 months ago and changed their packaging at that time.

Yeah, Winchester has been pumping these (white box 556 and 223) out like crazy. Read some of the reviews on them
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

The current Winchester offering is not the same stuff as most of the old Winchester White Box. WWB used to be made by Olin in their own plant. I even had some that was made in Israel. Under the terms of the Lake City contract, the company running the plant had to take all the ammo that was surplus to government needs. A couple of years ago, Federal had a problem because, if you can remember those good old days, ammo was gathering dust on the shelves. Federal sold some of the production capacity to both Winchester and Hornady. That's why there was availability of WWB 5.56mm for the first time in quite a few years. That's also why Hornady reintroduced the Frontier brand. That was Hornady boxed ammo that was loaded at Lake City. Last August, Winchester got the contract to run LC and this is brand new ammo loaded at LC. This is per a long conversation with our old Federal ammo rep.

I'd do the 10.99 deal too, even in these times no way I'm gonna pay 18 bucks for + shipping.
I would have got him too but a Dad Blam snow flake hit me in da eye....

they can keep it. I found 240 rounds in the back of the wife's closet in our Miami condo. I guess I put that there years ago, and forgot it.

Over the last week I saw 55 gr fmj Frontier ammo at 8.26 a box and some other at 8.99. Today the local Scheels had 62 gr green tip X tac pmc ammo at 10.99 a box. Didn't jump on any of it but did pickup 3 boxes 100 ct Hornady 75 gr bthp bullets for 20.99 a box. Mb

I’ve picked up Hornady 6.5 CM brass at our hunting club’s bench that seems to have crimped in primers. Could that be why?

Bought two boxes (limit) of Frontier 5.56mm at Bi-Mart today for $9.97 a box. More than I want to pay, but I'll take it when I can find it.

Still have some Hornady 62 gr FMJBT from the gunshow last weekend if you roll your own. Think I have three 500 round bags @ $70 ea. Or $130/1000. Shipped TYD Bought two boxes (limit) of Frontier 5.56mm at Bi-Mart today for $9.97 a box. More than I want to pay, but I'll take it when I can find it. Was sittin at the show table Sunday figgerin up what it costs to load 5.56 at current prices. From the prices I could see from where I was it’d cost around 0.45 to 0.50 a round for 5.56. Without brass. Could have been off a little but it’s close. So $10 for twenty is dead on food loaded ammo I guess.
