It seems as if I have seen this one before. Does anyone remember? Was this one of our member’s guns which sold a while back? I’m not finding it with search but I remember that dang bolt handle ...

That's far from being a "custom". Stupid fugg that marked those rings like that needs a good whipping. A lot of small details make it look like chidt too. Not custom at all in my book. I don't recognize it ever being here. Most guys here have more class than that..

NM, found it. Looks like I liked it then, too. 🤦‍♂️

It was in the classifieds, not here. Going to take down the link out of respect for the previous and current seller.

AKwolverine: Some time back (1990?) I acquired a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 action that was made the same month (day?) I was born (July 1947) and had it turned into a 280 Remington with a custom 25" medium weight barrel, by a top quality Riflesmith!
It is just about the finest Mule Deer, Elk, Blacktailed Deer, Black Bear, Antelope, Whitetailed Deer, Mt. Goat (and hopefully someday Caribou!) Rifle I have ever had anything to do with!
The transition safety was kept intact and I am glad I did so - it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to accidentally move that safety lever!
My custom 280 Remington is superbly accurate and the Rifle holds LOTS of bullets.
If you are contemplating building or buying a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 in caliber 280 Remington I certainly HIGHLY recommend you do so.
Good luck in your quest.

When I saw the thread I thought I'd click the link and it would be an old rifle you had or knew about grin. And then when I saw it, I thought, hell no you wouldn't have owned that one. Way below your standards..

This is the .280 that has me tempted to break out the plastic.

A bit heavy for a .280.

If it were a 7mm Rem Mag on the other hand......

Yep I instantly recognized it from before. Still tempting but after I got my custom 270 from here it’s hard to justify a 280.
