Was looking for one on gunbroker within the last few weeks and they were selling for anywhere from the high $700 range up to the mid-$900's depending on condition, any extras like the original box and possibly the whims of a buyer at that time.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

People do want them. Simple rifle made cheap, but they shoot good. I have one in 308, shoots very tight groups. In 30-30 I'd say around 700-$800.00.

The Tasco scope isn't adding any value, but I wouldn't part with my 788 .30-30 for under $700. My .30-30 thinks it's a varmint rifle, if I'm doing my part it'll stack 150 and 170 grain bullets into cloverleaf groups at 100. My trigger needs worked over or replacement and I'd love to rebarrel it for my suppressor. I'll probably just enjoy it as is.

I don't unsderstand.

Years ago I used a 788 and built a 30-30 Ackley for John Haviland. Shot really well. And it can be loaded a little hotter than in a lever gun. Before it was over, that rifle was a 25-35, 30-30 Ackley, and a 38-55.

Also very easy to load subsonic or super with pointy bullets.

Put a spring in the trigger and clean it good when you do. You can most likely drop the pull weight to half what it is.

I sold one back a few months ago with a Swarovski Habicht 3-9x36 pre A-Line and Z-3 for $1375. The rifle was in good condition and scope about the same. The guy was happy to have it. This was a Georgia transaction. That rifle shoot tiny tiny groups at 100 yards with green box Remington 150grain ammo.
Regards, Nick- Georgia
