Have boat, must fish. But I gotta catch up on a lot of years of ignorance. Youtube is a resource but I get going in a lot of different directions.

Best to buy jigs and such at a local shop? Or online?

This knot or that? Hooksnap or not?

Long pole? Spinning rod?

Gonna sound stupid, but I just realized that jigging could be done with a float/bobber. Bobber fishing in my world has always meant a nightcrawler or minnow on a hook.

Bobby Garland shad jigs, MoGlo orange, Blue Ice, Electric Chicken, and Patriot to start. Always good to have some marabou jigs in your arsenal, bumblebee is the never fail for me.

If they aren’t on the beds yet I like one of the Bobby Garland bodies on a Roadrunner head fished on a slow retrieve to locate them. Once I find a bunch stacked up I’ll tie on a double jig rig using a dropper loop and jig them.

I find the shad shaped jigs like the Bobby Garland or the Sexee Shad work much better than the curly tails, probably a the more subtle action. If they’re picky nothing beats a marabou jigged as slow as you can, in clear water you’ll see the pulsating action of the tail feathers even when you hold it as still as possible.
