I'm rural Lorne. I don't know anyone who has has it Me too. South east of Swift Current about 90 miles Couple tested positive here last summer. He works for Nutrien when he had cold symptoms at work he was tested, positive. Bad cold/flu for 2-3 days. She works at the vet clinic. Told me she had zero symptoms although she tested positive as well. The ‘trace back’ and follow up was the typical gong show you expect from government. Only ones I know

Ya it sucks for sure Lorne. I think it's hitting the ghetto area's of the cities hardest I don't hear about people living on the street dropping dead. BC has been locked down again and I don't know one person who has had Covid lol, and the entire Province is down, again. I wont be getting any Vaccine.

It really sucks that the elderly are so isolated. They are losing their minds. We keep our families needs first. Regardless of rules/regulations.

Well written article George. Kind of a coincidence, but I've been reading a lot of Walvoords stuff this last winter. His commentaries are some of my favourites. His work gave me a lot of clarification in some research I was doing.

I looked it up, BC has 206 ICU beds, Monday 121 were used for COVID patients. ICU nurses are specialists, they are quite a few steps up from the run of the mill nurses.

This is one of the great inestimable costs, among many others that families and the elderly pay for isolation. My mother died at 94 a couple of weeks ago with a year of barely seeing her and minimal communication. Though she was in a very good nursing home with excellent care, no family was allowed in her room until just before she passed.

George; Please accept my sincere condolences on your Mom's passing. You and the friends and family left behind are in my thoughts and prayers.
While I'm reluctant to say to anyone at any time that I would begin to know how you feel, we lost my much loved Mom in law last May and still haven't had a memorial service for her as inter provincial travel isn't encouraged and some of the family aren't physically close.
One of the toughest things on my good wife was the restrictions for visiting her Mom during the last days. It was tough to say the least.
Those who have said that we're going to be tallying up the cost of this for years to come with regards to the toll it's taken on us mentally were - in my view - spot on.
I'm reluctant to type more in point of fact as it's a bit too close to home for me personally. It's tough to be objective when I've seen the damage it's caused, you know?
Again, sincere condolences and know you all are in my prayers.
Dwayne

It often seems like if you do not believe what I say, then you are my enemy. Opinions are polarized, with no middle ground. What happened? You just perfectly described yourself. Perhaps, reflection is your answer ?

Yesterday I talked with a couple of clients from Ont. that were booked with us this summer. They said rural property in Ont. is at a premium right now. Two reasons they gave was people just wanting to get out of the city and craziness, and since covid happened many have figured out ways to work from home so they can live anywhere.

It won't make it easier, but you are not alone. My father died last May in palliative care. No one was allowed to see him until a day or so before the end. My step mother was the only one allowed in, the day before his passing. He had been there for a few months and the best we could manage was talking on the phone. COVID protocols affect more than just those afflicted by it. --- WRT rural properties, we have seen people who were locked down in the GTA drive north and spread COVID for hundreds of kilometers. This was happening long before the latest lockdown. Millions of people packed into a small space were part of the problem.
