Why not a Super Mashburn or, better yet, a 28 Nosler?
If you have the dies and brass already, either is fine. I don't. I do, however, have 300 pieces of new Remington STW brass. Also, I have a history with it. Load data, a god bit of experience. So it's my personal choice. You pick what you want. Your reasons, what you've got to work with, could be different than mine.

Recently picked up a 1996 highwall in 7mm mag with a 28" octagon barrel. Gonna put a Vortex Viper on it soon and head to the range.
Nice! I have the same rifle, purchased in the early 90's. My 7 mag loves handloaded 145 and 160 grain Speer Grand Slams. I have some old Federal Premium 150 grain BTSP factory ammo that my father gave me out of a friends estate that shoots damn near in the same hole if I do my part. I have chrono'd those 150's at 3150 out of that 28" barrel. Longest shot I ever made on a west Texas muley was 603 yards with that rifle and the 160 Grand Slam. I have a gloss Leopold 3.5-10X40 mounted on it with Conetrol rings and bases.
I don't take her hunting much any more because she's too pretty to bounce around in a UTV. I did take her out locally last year and killed two axis with the 145 Grand Slam and took her to the lease once last year and killed a huge hog with those 150 BTSP's.
Those Grand Slams are getting hard to find nowadays. I've got one box of the old 160's, a few handloaded 145's left and some of the 145 Speer BT's hand loads as well. I'm down to about15 of the 150's.
I love shooting that rifle and it gets oogled a lot at my local range. By far the prettiest rifle I have. I'll never sell it.

I had a round barrel B-78 in 7 maggie once... I rebarreled it to .405 Win and never looked back. Still have the barrel tho'

I havent shot this one yet, my Ruger No.1B and my Browning BBR likes the Federal Fusion 150 grain 7mag. The barrel on this one touches the fore end when trying to slide a dollar bill in between. May I ask if your barrel touches the fore arm on yours? I plan to carefully remove wood inside of the fore arm to relieve it. thanks

Mine was a 7mm Remington Magnum once. Like OSU_Sig, I am also not a fan of the round, so it became a 6.5x55mm. The barrel was sold and I haven't thought about it since.

Indeed. My 1A factory chambered for the Swede is my favorite hunting rifle these days. I left the need for anything with "magnum" in its title behind me a long long time ago.

I got a 1994 7mm mag with 28" octagon barrel in 2013 from SWFA for $1,375 + $213 shipping, FFL, and tax.
I put Sightron SIII 3.5x10x44 scope on it.
Because the octagon barrel is tapered, the front scope base did not sit right.
I put a shim under the front scope base until it would bore sight with a scope with the reticule centered in the scope tube.

I went out because it was a rare calm day.
1) I shot (5) rounds of 7mmRM 140 gr NBT 3.34" moly 70 gr H4350 through the Browning 1885. I had never shot the rifle. I just put shims under front scope base and mounted Sightron SIII 3x10 scope 1) missed the target at 87 yards 2) bore sighted, and then 3.5 in high and 1 in to the left 3) Three shot group = 1/2"
