If you are like a lot of people with hay fever, the pollen this time of year is a problem. The wife has it and this winter we stayed home in the dryer winter air and it was time for a whole house Aprilaire system to put some humidity back into the house. That solved the humidity issue, but almost as an afterthought we added an AMHP HEPA high efficiency air cleaner with a carbon filter and a UVPhotoMax air purifier. Wow, what a difference! This thing will filter 99.97% of the air in a 2,000 square foot house in an hour running on it's high setting. We run ours on low, but dust and pollen are gone inside the house. The UV lamp in the duct kills off bacteria and airborne viruses and the carbon filter in the HEPA unit removes odors. The wife barely needs to dust the house and waking up every morning without needing a nose blow also helps eliminate the snoring.

We do have one of those thicker 4" thick MERV 10 furnace filters and they work better than the thin 1" filters, but the difference the HEPA has made is pretty amazing. FYI.
