Picked up 3 boxes of gamebore Pure Gold 2 1/2" 12 ga. 1 oz #6's made with diamond hard shot and fiber wads. I figured they are light loads but supposedly they are 1400 fps at the.muzzle might be the right stuff for sharptails in september. My old 1903 vintage model 97 has a full choke and is only a 2 5/8" chamber. Anybody tried them ? Mb

Gamebore is Digweed's preferred ammo maker. By all accounts a great shell. You probably know British #6 are equivalent to US #7 in size. Which should be perfect for sharptails.

Haven't used Gamebore, but have alot of experience with the very similar 2.5" B&P High Pheasant loadings which are also fast. Used those on phez in a variety of 12s, only one of which had a short chamber.

'97s have plenty of wall thickness and, so long as no bolting issue, I'd feel OK using them. They will not be soft in recoil, tho. Something to think about.

I normal use 1330 fps 1 1/4 oz loads out of the 12 for upland shooting although back a few years ago I had a flat of 1400 fps 1 1/8oz Fed Premiun field loads in copper plated 6's which I'd shoot right into november when I go to 5's. Looking forward to shooting them, I just stumbled into them at a local gunshow bought all 3 boxes for $25 figured they were a buy so I bought them. Mb
