Democracies do not last long that is why we are not a democracy . The founders had the foresight to set our country up as a constitutional republic. The rule of law is supposed to ensure that our republic remains intact and strong. The problem is that it takes a moral and decent society to govern itself. We have lost our moral compass and the civil servants believe that they are now our rulers. It irritates me that politicians and the media have convinced the masses that we are a democracy. We’re a republic if we can keep it. God help us.

I've raise three of them in this current regime. All three went through school unbowed. If memory serves, they all 3 left scars and took scalps from anyone trying to foist that rot on them. Moose got a substitute fired for trying to show Fahrenheit 9/11 to the class. I caught Angus in after school care giving 2nd Amendment classes to his fellow students and handing out literature. William may be autistic, but he knows his politics. Yikes! He'll come after you.
The funny thing, is that I always heard about these things from them and never got called to school over them. You'd think outright insubordination would at least get a call to the parents. Someone didn't want me to know about this stuff.

Many don't even know what socialism or communism is so they don't realize the dangers of it.
Being so far removed by time and/or geography from the worst of it doesn't help either. Yes and the same issue with Captialism vs Crony Captialism. With a Democracy you can have Captialism. With Crony Captialism you don't have Democracy. The great fail with democracy is that voters cannot be trusted to vote for the good of the country as a whole but will time and time again vote for their own selfish wants. These come in the form of social programs and hand outs. Go ahead and mention austerity measures to control national debt and see how fast you DON'T get elected. Yep. With a Republic you can have Capitalism. I'm not sure it's sustainable with democracy.
