Whats this, Greg or M Boomer. Kit or Swift

Best way to tell apart is black stripe along back and tail. Greys have it, kits don't generally.

Big ears suggest kit but could be immature grey without seeing the top of back or tail...

Well, it was a small mature western desert fox that lived in a hold in the ground. It was either a kit or swift. I dont know how to tell the difference but ive killed many greys.

Yes, but it belongs to another fire member now, my current .223AI is somewhat more subdued...

I thought you had sold it. Mine is an “improved” cartridge also, 25 spc improved. The 80 grain ttsx way over penetrated that fox.

No expert here, but, dad trapped red and grays in western Oregon back in the day. Reds come in a variety of different types. He got some dandy individuals of cross and silver types.

Greys can climb trees too. I’ve never seen them do it but I’ve read they can.

I see them in the scrublands or foothills in CA.

Greys are the most primitive of the canids, it's why they are more cat-like.

I told my daughter the story and she said that she's seen reds several times in her mom's neighborhood here in EP and she has heard them make that screaming/bark sound.

l told my pap and mam I was going to be a mountain man; acted like they was gut-shot. Make your life go here. Here's where the peoples is. Mother Gue, I says, the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world, and by God, I was right.

We have a red fox in the neighborhood that I'm convinced intentionally gets all the local dogs going late at night. He runs around the neighborhood barking just like this, but hundreds of times over the course of a few hours.
