Picked up a few savage axis in 243 for free in last years Wallyworld clearance. Promised 1 to my youngest since she's getting into hunting. I had no money invested ($49 gun with $50 rebate) so I told her she could pick a stock.

Well, a Boyds thumbhole, limbsaver pad, Mcarbo spring/shims, talley rings and nikon 2.5-10x44 and she's a happy huntin buddy

That's funny. I read that thinking an axis in 243 would be a great starter gun.

Congrats on your new hunting buddy!

Granddaughter had the exact same thing. She was 9, had stock dipped later in muddy girl camo. She was 11 in second pic. She could shoot a bat off a June bug at a hundred yards with that rifle.

You and your daughter “done good”! 😁 I invested around $700.00 into my daughter’s rifle around 1987.....and she doesn’t hunt! 🤬 At least one of her sons is using it! memtb

Great pics all! I’ve got a 6yr old coming up into the habit. So fun seeing the heritage passed forward.

Can't beat a deal like that! Plus, she looks fully and completely "gruntled"!

My daughter up and did the same thing! Third year nursing student at ECU, couldn't be more proud but will always see her as my little girl.

She's been able to shoot moa with several loads. 95gr Fusions and SST's are what we've been able to buy recently and both are shooting well

My now-wife killed her first deer with a Walmart close out Ruger American in 243 a couple years back.

I hope your daughter has success this year.

Great. Hope your daughter bags a big one. Where in Florida do you hunt. My daughter and I tried last year but weren’t successful on youth weekend.

Funny thing here...my daughter would not even look at or touch a single gun I had while she was "growing up". Now at 38 years old, she wants me to teach her son and daughter how to shoot. The apple never falls far from the tree even though you have to wonder sometimes! Gonna be a good summer on my 50 yard range!

Small game, ducks and gallinules on the St. Johns. Turkey at Bull Creek and Three Lakes. She's been deer hunting with me in PA for 2 seasons now with a crossbow. The rifle should improve her success!
