In Kruger Park. Of course, media fails to mention that these are locals put up to poaching in an organized ring most likely. An by "locals", you get my drift. They weren't Boers.

I guess the identified that black stuff between an elephant's toe nails as "slow groids"...

Just a little good news to start the day.

I have read some some pretty graphic description of death by Elephant and think it perfect for their poachers and wish worse for the users of the end product[s].

Perhaps Cops should start riding elephants for crowd control in these large cities. Elephants are very smart. They could tote around one screaming BLM idiot with their trunk, and the rest would haul azz!

Some readings suggest it's hard to identify the exact species of an elephant's victim if the critter is really pissed off.

Of course the market for poached elephant ivory would dry up if there were a mechanism for population control/management that allowed for the legal sale and importation of ivory around the world. Nothing lights up the black market and criminal activity like making the item/substance illegal.

One time when I was at Kruger they were selling elephant biltong. They told me it was from an elephant that had flattened a car with the people in it a few weeks earlier. They said it killed those in the car so they put the young bull down.

The biltong wasn't good but it was more exciting coming up on elephants on the road after that story.

In 2012, my wife and I spent 4 days in Etosha. One day, we were driving just west of Halali Camp when our way was blocked by a large herd of 20-25 elephants. I put our rental Toyota in Park and snapped a few pictures of the herd. The herd bull decided he didn’t like our presence and charged us full speed ahead. I put the Toyota in Reverse and floored it. Despite our speed, the bull was gaining on us and we were scared [bleep]. Finally after over 100 yards, the bull stopped his charge. The herd continued to block our way, but a delivery truck driven by natives happened along and just honked their horn and scared the herd into the mopane brush. I learned that a bull elephant charging is faster than a Toyota floored in reverse.

One native poacher down in Kruger ain't nothing. Kruger is huge like the size of Massachusetts. There is a power line running across the park from Mozambique that refugees use as a guidepost to getting to civilization, food and jobs in the south. There are several prides of lions that live there that have become specialists in human prey. One author estimated that up to 30,000 people have been taken by these lions. Nobody wants to talk about it, especially people employed in the park or conservationist wanting to save the lion population which is plummeting across Africa.
