Looking to purchase a 12 guage automatic for coyotes and turkeys.
Shooting TSS if I can find it. Probably going to mount a red dot of some sort (advice on red dot welcomed)
Dependability and handling more important than cost.

Thanks

Not being a big semi-auto fan but involved in shotgun sports a long time. My take is any semi-auto that has been around for awhile, has decent CS, shoots 3" shells and is adaptable to a sight would be good to go. The most important thing is a good fit.

As far as sights, red dots leave me cold, a good low power variable with an illuminated dot will do every thing a red dot will do and have better optics. I do like Holographic sights and have one on my bow and my 870 set up for coyote hunting..

I have 1-4x20 Leupolds of all series on my combo guns.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

I use a Benelli M2 w/21" barrel, Indian Creek choke, and Burris speed bead for turkeys. So far I've killed more coyotes than turkeys with it.....and I've never carried it coyote hunting! It works really well.

Not familiar with TSS or red dots, but can say the old guns get it done too, i took my old A5 for a walk one day deer hunting, had the ribbed 30" full choke barrel installed, had five rounds on board, a Winchester 2-3/4 inch load with 20 copper plated #1 buck, saw movement below me at around 80 yards through the broken brush, i shouldered the old Belgium Browning, thought it was a deer, as it got closer i saw it was a coyote, have blown plenty of deer setups to smoke a coyote, this day was no different.

At roughly 15 yards the coyote saw me, locked up and threw his head up as the A5 boomed, i had the bead on his right shoulder on a hard quarter towards me, i've shot everything from squirrels to Cape Buffalo, Hippo and Eland with everything from 22 lr to 8 Bore, have 'NEVER' saw anything die that hard, the shot charge penetrated the dog length ways, i picked the thing up by the tail, can swear the shot charge ripping through to exit the animal added a full foot to his overall length. grin

Saw my Gramps using a Lynch box call shoot Turkeys with his old shiny blued steel and walnut Remington Model 11 [which looked like an A5 to me] a few times, the old guns are still fun and effective too, enjoy whatever you put together, it's all about getting out there and getting it done.

Benelli shotgun, 2 3/4" 4 buck shells, benelli full choke, and the simple front bead of your choice. I use a small red true glow. Very simple, very effective, very deadly. Then pattern your shotgun. You should be good to 40 yds, maybe a touch further.

You wont be disappointed with a Benelli M2 or Black eagle. I use a Benelli Super Black eagle II with #4 buck or hevi shot dead coyote and have taken coyotes and bobcats out to 45 yards without a hiccup.

Benelli or Beretta. I have used both and long ago settled on a pair of Benelli M1's. For loads everything from 00 Buck, #1 Buck, 4 Buck, lead BB, denser than lead tungsten BB & T, TSS #2 and #4, various lead turkey loads of #4,#5,#6 shot. The absolute best is the TSS #2. The denser than lead tungsten BB is excellent. The best bang for the buck is lead No. Four Buck.

Can't beat a Benelli M2 shooting TSS 4's for coyote. I have one that I mounted a Leupold Delta Point Pro with the 2.5 MOA dot on and it's about 100% on coyotes under 60 yards.

I'll toss in my vote for the franchi affinity. Mine has been trouble free from the beginning. Light trap loads to the heavy magnums. I can't say the same thing for the browning that it replaced costing double the money.

Winchester Super X2 or later. Soft shooting shotgun, handles well, STUPID reliable. I've got one with well into 5 figure round count - can't remember a single foible.

Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, ducks on the bay, snow geese in MO - it just goes bang, every time.

Ive had excellent service from Remington 1100.magnums.
1250 fps 2 3/4" sporting clays/ trap to various 3" mags.
Kind of heavy guns though. And no longer made.

2 reg gloss mags, an Atlantic Flyway and a Special Purpose.

Only the latter remains. Its matte and does it all ( wears 26" steel shot Remchoke bbl ).

My main turkey/predator shotgun is the M2, 24” barrel, .675 Trulock choke. It’s often been T shot for coyotes & #6 hevi-shot for turkey. There are others, my Browning Gold is 2nd in line.
