I put many a mile on those backpacking the Sierras. I'm sure they'd serve well as LEO boots.

Might want to put a more cushy insole in them though.

Excellent point Geno.
Thanks for the prompt.
Plenty of aftermarket options to replace the waffle sole insert.

Any joe with a lick of sense buys em.

The waffle sole insert is their only short coming. IMO.

Waffle sole insert?

I don't think they had them back in the Olden Days.

As I recall there was just a leather type insole material. A pair of cotton socks next to the foot for absorption, pair of wool socks on the outside of the cotton ones and that was pretty much it for cushioning.

We must have had tough feet back then. I still kind of do. I was exceptionally happy yesterday as it's finally not freezing all day, or so hot it's baking the ground, and I got to go across the (dry) creek to check my bees the way I like to.

They looked like a woven wheat cracker.
Friction city.....
Throw them fugga,s away spend 15 ,20,25 bucks on some good insoles of various options.
And knowing how to take care of your hooves is important also.
Prep is also important.
With the most important prep being conditioning rd marches up to x distances with x amount of loads over a repetitive schedule.

Then ya get tough hooves and not a tenderfoot like sedate joe average.

I heard from a friend....
Seem ta have been standard redesigned issue from the late 80,s world wide and thru desert storm and then on thru the 05 06 era...
Seem ta have been standard issue for OIF 1, 2, and 3.
Urban warfare and long approach marches on roads.

Hmmm..
Never seen anyone do 25 milers ( gut check) either with full battle rattle and sustainment ruck.
Never.....

Just heard this all from a friend of course....

Never seen anyone like whole brigades and every swinging Richard in em wearing em.
Heard that from a friend also.

Never heard anyone complain about how they suck on hard pavement.
Heard that from that same guy also.

But then again your avg civilian has soft feet and no hardened heels or on the balls of their feet or their toe pads either.
That probably goes for cops also.

Anyone who has been in the light infantry knows they lose their hardened skin on the soles of their feet over time.
Heard that from the same guy also.

Mine are soft just like any soft foot average civilian or cop sitting idling in a car for most of his shift.

No wonder the sneaker boots are so popular to the tender foot types.

😄😄😄

I had them issued, wore them all over the drop zones at Ft Bragg, they sucked *** on the flight line at Simmons Army Airfield, 90'-94'

The Salomon Forces series of boots are terrific and come in a variety of styles. The days of stiff heavy boots are long over if you prefer light and anatomically correct. Some cops actually dress for action and need to be able to run and be agile. Choice is a good thing.

Well, I'm another "not a cop", but have had good service from Merrell footwear, and came across these: Merrell tactical response boots. Thinking about trying a pair.

I went from wearing hiking boots from the various Meindl lines and my feet were sore if standing all day. I now wear super light 5.11 tactical boots. My daily wear ones are not the black ones with reinforcements and water proofing. I also have those and they are more comfortable than hiking boots too, but the super light ones are sweet and easy to get on and off.

The lighter the better here in my opinions. Oh and they cost half what is used to spend

Depends on the intended mission. Based on current events, I recommend cleats.

Danner Acadia are the most durable but not the most comfortable for me. I also have a pair of Adidas SWIFT gore-tex and continental sole, they are super light and pretty darn comfortable. Bought a pair of Solomon 4D GTX, they've been worn on two high country elk hunts, a rough a$$ mule deer hunt, and been all over this rough Ozark country chasin' critters and still good enough shape I'll probably take them back to the mountains this fall.

My favorite work boots for a long time have been Wolverine Durashocks with 9" lace uppers (I carry a small pistol in my left boot). I just got a pair of brown, waterproof, non-insulated, no steel toed boots from the Wolverine website for $150. If I was a cop I'd want the steel toed boots. They have a good selection of sizes and colors.

If you are going to be on patrol, I would recommend Danners. I wore them for much of my career, no you can't run in them as fast as a pair of tennis shoe based boots, but the first time you need to shin a drunk or someone resisting, you will be glad you had a good hard sole boot.

Totally hear ya Rene, and in fact my backup set looks exactly line the black one in your pic. Air Force issue. But I gotta admit I find thm clunky even with some nice aftermarket inner soles, and think I'll prolly head in the direction of a boot that is more sneaker-like, due to comfort issues. No I'm not a Puzzy. Nor do I frequent donut establishments. Just a swinging Richard that may well have to sprint to run down a bad guy, statistically speaking most likely to be 1/3 my age.

Everybody’s feet are different. I tried to like the acadias and ft Lewis boots. Couldn’t do it. Rockies are always comfortable for me, but they never last a year. Been wearing Haix last couple years and so far I like them. I wore the Hathorne and Buffalo smoke jumpers for years and years, but switched over to the sneaker boots awhile back.

Also, if you're tracking people you need to wear REAL moccasins.
