Old style Weaver rings are all I've ever used on several 12ga. slug guns that I've built over the years. None have ever given me any trouble.

Dad hunted with a pre 64 70 featherweight. Had a Weaver K4 in Weaver rings for at least 30 years. Fired 3 shots to verify zero every season then a couple shots at deer every year. Never had to adjust scope in all those years.

Is that a 2-7 Revolution? I have one going onto a 257Roberts. Those are nice little scopes. Lots of value there.

I have the Weavers with the large knobs on the same three rifles for the past 25-30 years. The steel Burris Zee rings (not Signatures) work just as well though. With Weaver mounts they are almost as light as the Talleys.

Of course, the Burris's are now made in China.......... mad

Despite their virtues, I’m over them now. You all may divide up my share amongst you.

Heavens to Betsy! Those are marked USA! I may have to re-evaluated.

I have a set of Weaver pivot rings and bases on an old Ruger .44 Carbine and found that as others stated, I had to hold the reticle "into the wind" so as to keep it vertical/ horizontal when the cap screws were snugged up.

I also have a set of 10 year old Weaver 4x4 rings that, while not all that pretty, do eliminate the problem of the scope rotating inside the rings when tightening the cap screws.

Just received two sets of the Weaver Sure Grip rings. Definitely made in USA! Pretty sure I can mount one without any “lead” needed to prevent canting. Only gripe is the shallow-slotted screws. Since I’ve forsaken “farmer tight” torquing, hopefully I can keep from boogering them up.

I've tried to "forsake" farmer tight as well. With these rings it really isn't needed. I think the surface area of these rings help hold better than narrow rings. Mine didn't even get fully tightened and the scope was unmovable. I tightened the screws to the point that to go any farther would have called for "farmer tight".

As a heads up, when Weaver list the low rings as being suitable for up to 38mm objective scopes, they mean it. I bought a set of lows and set of mediums. The lows will not allow for 40mm objectives on a Remington 700 Classic barrel contour.

These are Mediums, and good to 40mm according to the package. Base height matters though.

Gonna check my box-o-crap for better screws.
