specifically toe box width. I have wide feet and it seem like nooone makes a good sturdy mountain type boot in a 14 EE or 14EEE. lowa seems to run a half size bigger so I am wondering if that carries over in toe box width as well

Not sure which Lowa's you're interested in but the Renegades I've been using (not wides) don't seem to have a wide toe box.

I can’t speak to your exact width but I’m an E. The toe box seems to correspond nicely to the rest of the boot allowing plenty of space for me. I’ve had 4 pairs and 100’s of miles in my Tibet GTX’s while hunting & hiking and wear the Renegade almost daily but they wear out quicker being a softer boot.

If you haven’t tried LaSprortiva they also work great but are very, very stiff even beyond the Tibet. If you’re going to carry meat out over rough terrain they are outstanding but are almost like wearing a ski boot without extra pack weight.

For reference: I’ve tried & used Kennetrek, Hanwag, Meindel, Danner, Scarpa & LaSportiva but always come back to Lowa.

The Tibet GTX had a really bad pinch/flex area for me. Probably fine after break-in but I went a different route with a better hinge/flex area. Toe box seemed fine, and I generally buy wide sizes, but it really depends on the make/model. Sometimes the standard width works fine. I really wanted to try Solomon Quest boots but they are way too narrow for me. Lowa Renegades fit me great, and my choice for light/medium duty boot. Just the standard width toe box works for me.

I noticed that a lot of Italian made boots tend to be narrow. Hiking boots and motorcycle boots. Of course they may offer wide sizes, but not always. I had to buy size 13 motocross boots to fit my feet (width), and I normally wear a 10.5 - 11.0.

I contacted Lowa yesteray. their replyw as that thier "wide" shoes measure out on the E of an E/EE width. I replied on what planet does that make your shoes "wide" by any stretch of the imagination. it looks like my best bet is to plunk down the coin for Lathrop and sons

You might take a look at Zamberlan. I have both Lowa and Zamberlan and the Z's have a significantly wider toe area.

I have very wide feet and Lowa Tibets fit very well. They are heavy though and I have switched to Asolos that also feet really well.

My question is would you buy this brand again ? I’m thinking about a pair of hikers

If you have really wide feet, then consider Kenetrek. I have the Mountain Extreme and they have lots of room in the toe box. A lot more than my Lowa Renegades. I also have Crispi Thor II, and I'd re-order those a half size larger than my Kenetreks next time. But they work great with a light sock, in the same size boot.

If anything Lowa run narrow. IME. Worst pair of boots I ever owned were Cabelas Meindel Hunters. Best of luck and happy feet.

I've had two pair, one promotional that I don't remember the name, 13m, put about 100 miles on them in Alaska and still use them as work boots, held up very well. Bought the Renegades in 13W and fit much better, put about 120+ miles on them in CO and WY and they are in great shape. Would buy again for sure.

I know the OP made his choice, but the toe box width on Lowas seems normal to me, but I haven't really paid attention to that I guess and my feet are normal width.

Regardless of the sizing, I have zero issue paying $400+ for a pair of quality boots that will last more than one season and Lowa does that for me.

I've had good luck with Lowa mountain boots. They have been comfortable and held up well. However, I have normal width feet.
