I'm thinking along the lines of a tack driving rifle. Maybe something built just the way I want it with a medium heavy fluted barrel and a nice piece of wood. Probably a 22LR but won't rule out a 17

I have a Remington M34 inbound. I already own a M34P and it shoots pretty well though stuck with open sights and 59 year old eyes.

Old rifles like that have a lot of character. Most shoot very well. That's a nice one.

Got an Anschutz 1710HB recently in 22LR - will keep me happy for a while.

I’m thinking a 17WSM is on the docket. I was starting to look for a Ruger, but a Winchester 1885 Low Wall popped up the other day in my readings and I’m thinking that may be the ticket. I have enough bolt rimfires, time for something different.

Now to find one!

The 17 WSM sounds interesting especially in a single shot. How is the ammo availability for it? Ammo is a problem across the board. I seriously considered buying a very nice S&W M48 but try to find 22 Mag ammo.

I have a set of Maple stock T-Bolts unfired just too nice to shoot

The Voodoo with the UGLY magazine are not 4 me--I much prefer my 40X Repeater

I was lucky to pick up a Walther KK300 barreled action. I know it isn't meant for it, it will become a club shooting BR rifle. It was very reasonable. 11mmn scope rings are on the way as well as an uninletted Stith BR stock. It won't be a done tomorrow deal. I also have a tuner coming for it.

Thanks and I agree. They were only made from 1932 - 1935.

Thinking about a tack driving 22LR of some sort, maybe a CZ457 MTR or Tikka T1x or?

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Good luck buddy. Keep us posted. I was looking for a "tack driver" and then I wanted a 10-22 as well, so I put a Kidd barrel on a 10-22 I recently bought. Shoots well enough, but my iron sighted rifles put a whipping on it. That's when you know you have a real tack driver. The thing that stops me from buying the vaunted Tikka T1x is some feeding issues I've seen numerous times on Youtube. If it were not for that, I'd probably get the Tikka... I'd rather run a Savage 93r17 I have that feeds perfectly all the time than mess with something that shoots lights out and feeds good part of the time. In some speed shoots I do, I can't have a rifle that doesn't function 100%.

Your 40X probably shoots every bit as good as a Vudoo and looks better doing it.

I'll probably sell my Ruger this year and replace it with a Beretta Model 70. That's the only rimfire I have any craving for.
