This is a shout-out to Dan at Accu-Tig. I was having an issue with primary extraction on a 700 Rem. Dan communicated how to measure the gap on bolt handle, cost and procedure for sending just the bolt body. The work was completed very quickly and returned promptly. Thanks, Dan

OP,
Thanks
BUT
I don't do GAPS....only clearances ,as they(GAP) make preppy clothes & paint Mall Ninja Rifles.

Glad to be a service for you.

Grease the aft lug surfaces
Grease the handle primary extraction cam surface
Grease the f/pin shroud threads & Firing pin cocking cam surface
Light oil on the firing pin spring to prevent corrosion.

Favor center

I see people shoot an entire weekend and never lube a thing.

Thanks for clarifying, Dan. I'll see if I can acquire a new set of feeler gauges-some that don't come from the mall!

DAN has done many custom bolt handles for me over the years. Dan is top notch, fast, and very reasonable.

They also have a better chance at stuffing a .025" feeler in the primary surface than scrubbing the cam surface.

This work corrects that. Dan literally has developed a niche market around the work, and you have some VERY credible smiths and shooters sending him this relatively easy task because he's good at it.

I'd heed the advice. Just looking at the mechanics of it makes sense. Tearing one down and seeing the contact spots makes more sense.....and having ANY experience with stainless machining seals the deal.

Dan has done several for me, great work, huge difference in extraction. When you get them back it's hard to believe Remington didn't do them that way from the factory.

Last sentence from TX pretty well sums it up. Action went directly to my riflesmith after getting it back from Dan. Got it back yesterday with great report on extraction. Problem solved!
