My Walmart is not the best place to buy buttermilk. I think they carry an upscale brand and usually only have a few containers of it. I buy mine at one of the local grocery stores.
OTOH Walmart Great Value 1/2 & 1/2 for coffee is the absolute best, always very fresh and the price is right.

I grew up on a dairy farm and my mother and grandmothers churned our butter. That probably made the best buttermilk and it still sucked. Good in homemade ice cream though.
