Seems like some want a bunch of others to donate the the wanton, and it seems possible that someday, sooner rather than later, the door will open. I prefer to donate art rather than greenbacks and would gladly do so, one at a time. My question stems from doubt about my perspective. Are these art and worthy of distribution? They seem shiny enough, easy to transport/deliver. Whaddya think?

What segment of society is most deserving? Will they appreciate my generosity? Do you think they would be popular as jewelry components? So many questions.....

Beautiful, might try that when I retire, have poured thousands of pounds of lead being in the plumbing trade in years past. The younger plumbers have no clue how to pour a lead joint.

That would much like casting pearls before the swine. I pray the recipients appreciate it.

Be careful, Sir. It is somewhat addictive, and fatal to swine from those trapped in pens to those ravaging at night.

DD,
Nothing more honorable than donating precious metals to those in need.

No shakes as of yet. Sometimes a little spat on the feet reminds me that flip flops are poor apparel for the craft.

I would certainly call those art, or more appreciatively, artisan or treasure.

In fact, I would nominate them for legal tender. smile

Riddle me this please. If the recipient(s) were interested in use for jewelry and requested help with nose or ear piercing, what standard of precision is required?

This?

What’s your equipment?

What alloy, dropped in water for a quench?

Caliber and case?

I think I need to get back into it.. unlike Roger, all my old casting equipment left here years ago.

Those look great!

Mold, aluminum or steel?

Thanks for any input!

Most definitely art, DD! No two are exactly alike, I'm sure, but each a thing of beauty...and each can be expected to perform beautifully with extreme confidence. THAT'S art.

Dropped in water? That's almost as wrong as a football bat.
Alloy? Several. Pure lead to Lyman #2 with a strong predisposition towards stuff in the 6-10 BHN range. I don't load for hyper mangleums.
Caliber? Take your pick: .17, .22, .25, .7mm .30, .38, .40, .44, .45, .50.
Steel moulds. Aluminum is for making planes and choppers.

Nice work Dan. My efforts along those lines lately have been more for 45 acp and 45 Colt. I do have a couple hundred pounds cast for the rifles though. 25-20, 308, and 38-55 work real well with cast. I've been up to 2500 fps with the 308 using powder coat, but for the most part I stay under 1500.
