The Germans were obsessed with knowing your ancestry and genetics to keep the race "pure". All the DNA stuff could be very dangerous in the wrong hands.
They used to plant a weapon as evidence at a crime scene to frame the innocent. Now the unscrupulous need only a sample of your DNA. Scary.

Have a good bud who is the cultural resource officer for the Oklahoma Seminole Nation. He said several years ago the feds did some financial settlements with the Oklahoma Seminoles. $$$$$. He went on to say you should have see who came out of the woodworks claiming membership. And they weren’t caucasian.
Now He went on to say that there were a few legit claims. But on the whole most were there for da money they thought they would get.

As for the native American DNA...i have 100 percent proof I am 1/8 Sioux and the ancestry test came back not mentioning that. I did a little digging and it seems the tribes told them no way when it came to giving them samples to use.
So it sounds like their tests are not as accurate as they want us to think. It's only as accurate as the data they have to work with like any other piece of science. DNA doesn't get passed on in direct proportion to your ancestry, in other words if one of your 8 great grandparents was 100% Sioux, that doesn't mean that 1/8 of your DNA would be Sioux. I have distant ancestors from the Delaware tribe but no DNA from that line, while one of my sisters does have DNA from them. Actual inherited DNA is pretty random and siblings will often have quite a different mix of DNA.

Why in the fug would anyone need or want your DNA, is the question! China will be trying to steal it from Olympic competitors. Think genetic engineering, and bio weapons.

I work for the lab that runs the assay for one of the top players in DNA testing.
Trust me when I say that nothing about genetic testing is private. You put your genome in the public arena when you are tested and it stays there for ever. can you buy samples of other people's DNA? (asking for a friend)

An extensive DNA database would be a treasure trove of info to insurance companies, employers and marketers. Actually, the possibilities are endless. Compared to these people, government folks are rank amateurs.
