I will admit to being ok with not having to deal with that on our pheasant hunts in central SD. 😉

He wouldn't have liked the vast numbers of mosquitoes we'd have if the predator bats weren't here eating them. Or the mice without predator snakes and coyotes. We need a lot more predators that will eat starlings.

It seems every few years or sooner someone has to shoot a griz in self defense at Nine Pipes while pheasant hunting.

They've been there a lot longer than 20 years. My first Lab encountered one on a farm just east of Ninepipes around 1980. I didn't see the bear--it was thick cover--but he came running back to me with his tail between his legs and hair up all along his back. I walked along the cover just far enough to find the tracks, with the distinctive claw-marks well in front of the pads. Plus, black bears didn't spook him at all!

That was not long after a pheasant hunter got beat up by a grizzly not far from there. And the local kids waiting for school buses were sitting inside vehicles with their parents until the bus showed up, especially on the gravel roads just off the highway. because grizzlies had been showing up regularly

What a joke 🙄. But the liberals don’t impose any penalties whatsoever for the killing of an unborn baby.

Local paper says the griz in the Snowy Mtns was euthanized for killing cattle. Made my wife happy.

Grizzlies move in and out of the Yellowstone Park boundries regularly. Elk guide was killed and hunter also mauled
outside the park in 2018. Bow hunter with just 1 pistol between them. When returning to a kill site or pursuing
wounded/down game in grizzly country, ALL of the party should be armed. Wife of outfitter from Jackson, WY. would
agree fully. Gets serious when guide leaves wife and children behind. Carry a large caliber handgun.
Planned fly fishing trip in WY in July. ALL are carrying 44-45 cal pistols properly loaded. We are the visitors in bear country.

There have been confirmed black bear sightings in OK as far west as I-35.

One was killed just north of Ada a couple years ago and last season they expanded the zone for black bear take.

Idaho allows bow hunters to carry guns. Don't let the IDFG find a bullet hole in your 'bow killed' elk or deer, though. They get real testy about that.

Will anything eat those darling starlings?

I’ve noticed lately they don’t get killed for mauling people anymore.

Just cattle.

The sacred cow.

I don't doubt that at all. A few of us used to go
bum around in the Ouachita and there abouts
most every weekend for a few years, and there's
things that most people don't ever see from the
trails and in their vehicles.

There isn’t much civilization between Ada, OK and Hot Springs, AR.

Don’t send them to CA we just got rid of them 125 years ago. Biggest bear killed in the Continental US was killed in my little valley in rural San Diego county. The cattle Ranch behind me would be perfect habitat 22,000 acre original Spanish land grant so not much changed since then except shooting all the bears. Black bears are still thriving in the mountains in LA county but can’t get past the highways to migrate South. .
