Thanks Dave, hope you're doing well. Refreshing to get a nice shooter after the 6 creed debacle 😬

I bet it was a hell of a good feeling the first time you shot it. Guessing you were grinning ear to ear!
I have an early 700 BDL with the square safety. The barrel is a little rough but it shoots well. 5 shots will shoot an inch. Only tried 95gr BT'S and 80 gr TTSX's. My daughter killed a black bear with it and whitetails. I bought it for her.

I have only had X-Caliber barrels for my AR's and always the 5R...........sounds like their Savage barrels are as good as their AR barrels.
I have only used Remington 6mm Rem brass, but on the up side it has been the best Remington brass I have had in any chambering

Boatanchor, this is my 2nd X-caliber. First one shoots well too. My only two turds were from big name barrel makers. ... you never know what you're going to get...

my 6 mm Rem is on a 700 Long Action.... totally different cartridge on a long action.... same concept the Creedmoor is designed on... only moreso.
A 243 doesn't compare ( on short action at least), its more comparable to a 240 Weatherby, at least factory loaded Weatherby.
Mine is the most accuracy rifle I have. Pac Nor barrel, stainless, 24 inch.. heavy magnum contour...
the Barrel is a Pac Nor reject no less.... got it thru John Noveske, before he got famous...he installed it... cost me $75 for the barrel and to have it chambered and mounted... 1 in 7 twist...
mainly shoot two bullets in it 115 Bergers at 3250 fps... 46 grains, RL 19 75 Hornady HP, 47 grains H 414, 3675 to 3700 fps...
had one built on an Enfield action for a friend's son in Montana, for his High School graduation present and him going off to New Mexico Military Academy, and two tours in Iraq at Abu Grav prison that followed....that was like 2010... young man is a Montana State Trooper now. Kevin Wyatt did the work.
he uses that gun for about everything except Prairie Dogs, so he doesn't wear the barrel out...its dropped a lot of Montana deer, antelope, bear and a cougar or two...he just feeds it handloaded ammo, with 100 grain Corelokts and 100 gr Hornady SPs.
on mine, I use Win 6mm Rem brass My favorite two cartridges are the 6mm Rem and the 6.5 x 57, on long actions...
maybe I should call them my 6 and 6.5 Don't Need Moor......

I've never been around a 6.5×57 but its intriguing. I assume it's similar to my Swede.

It was a B&C M40, but I modified it quite a bit. Changed the grip and added flush cups etc. Also added vertical grip/barricade stop.

Wanting another 6. Thinking of a 10-12 twist and drive 55-70 bullets hard and fast for a feather puffer.

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

Interested in the opinions of so many 6mm Remington users. In mine I have found it necessary to trim after almost every reloading.

Jim Are you full length sizing? If so, does your die squeeze the body a good bit even when it's set not to move the shoulder too much? One of my 308 Winchester FL dies reduces the body diameter and sets taper to like new dimensions and it causes cases to grow more than other dies.

Honestly I haven't taken any measurements prior to and following resizing. It is a 40X play gun and isn't used very much. Will have to try this and see if I can find any useful information. The gun has become more of a safe queen and it is only because of the pandemic that I got thinking about because it has been sitting around for so long.

Jim Is it on a short action... mine is on a long action and I have not experienced that problem.
