Our black Lab pup's named Earl. A surprising number of people have liked that name for him. Registered as Earl, Not the Duke Of.

Spotshooter,
I have a suggestion. In my mind, Kansas and Drathaar just begs for something like "Milo"! It is a name I thought I might use for another male Shorthair, "Maize" or "Maizee" for a female.
My last male shorthair was "Moses", "MosesNosesBirdz" to be exact!!! He led me to the Promised Land of roosters many times. Fun to come up with good names for hunting dogs.
Good luck and enjoy your new pup!

Friend had male Shorthairs named "Rocket" and "Boomer"; they wore those names well.
On the German theme, how about "Mauser", "Kaiser", "Kraut", "Klink", or "Schultz". Dogs, like people, seem to grow into their names.
Had another friend who named his dog "Schlitz".
Let us know what you choose!

Friend liked Germanic names: Fritzl, Zisa, Freya, Hans. He also had more common names of Thorn and Tab.
I used Norwegian names. Thormod called him Thor for short pronounced Tor. Asa (viking queen) and Oli short for Olifr named after a Norwegian king. Ole is the usual spelling but in the SW is is a spanish word....
There are a ton of Norwegian names with Thor in it. Thorson, Torgeir, Torhild, Torkil, Torvald,

Let us know what you choose! I typically avoid the name Boomer for a dog because, well, that’s my name. And, as such, I can testify to the popularity of the name for dogs, with the evidence suggesting as much being ever-present in my life. I typically acquire this data shortly after an introduction to someone compelled to tell me they once had a friend with a dog named Boomer.

I had a lab named buck. He had a verbal back as a command as the dog handled. He was sometimes confused to come to his name or take the back command

Senseless and no one else will be calling him.
I was thinking the other day how much I used to hate Bill Clinton. He was freaking George Washington compared to what they are now.
