What’s your opinion on having a receiver (1886) case colored vs traditional blueing?

The Case Coloring is a Steel Hardening process, and serves dual purpose, if you will, besides looking nice! Different tastes! Both are nice, it all depends on what your after. The case Color look does wear down over time, with handling, time, and exposure to UV Rays, sunlight! I own, and Have Both, and Like Both! Get what you want! Good Hunting

I personally like it! I only have one though. Gonna send in one of my Miroku 1886s to get made into a 50-110 and will have that done to it as well.

I'm a huge fan of Case Coloring.

Now, I love the old Original Case Hardening on a good old Honest Gun, and Yes Turnbull is one of the Best, and there are other choices, that do a fine job also.
my point is to do your homework, because no two Case Color jobs are alike, and there are several different hugh's, and styles, if you will in the finish product, when their done!

Example: Go online and look at several modern day reproduction Rifles, like the Taylor, the Uberti, and Cimmeron, to name a few, and Compare them to the older style of Case Color Hardening, and Maybe you can determine what your looking for, besides just a case Colorer! Just a thought, because their is an Art to it!

My Marlin model 36 has a case colored receiver and it is still in fairly good shape. I do not leave it out in the sun at all if it can be helped. It is a '41 B # and a .32 SP. My birthyear rifle
Have a great day.
Jim
