Its not that old. The Brenneke was pretty popular in the Special Regulations Area of SE PA until rounds with sabots became even more popular.

Steve, can you add some pictures of an actual shell please? That might help my searching, I know older German ammo usually had some marks to indicate dates. Thanks.

A world standard for most of the 20th century. I believe upgraded versions are still available, if pricey (and currently scarce--what else is new?).

And the .410 Brennecke-type slugs are surprisingly accurate if your popgun has sights. I can put 3 in a 4" circle every time at 40 yards with my Savage Model 24 with scope adjusted for the .22 WRM rifle barrel and the open sights adjusted for the .410.
