I've been making cases for my split breech by converting Starline .56-50 centerfire cases to rimfire. I had some fun at the range with it a couple days ago.

Fascinating. Especially how you convert centerfire to rimfire. Do you just leave a spent primer in place to cover the original primer pocket?

No, I solder a brass plug in the centerfire primer pocket. There is a 2-part video on my YouTube channel showing the process I use to convert a case from centerfire to rimfire. There other videos that you may find interesting too.

So it looks like you just rely on a slight pressure fit with the 22 blank much like seating an actual primer. No epoxy or anything like that is that correct?

That is correct. The hole is reamed with a .224" reamer. The acorn blanks run .225-.226". But if they get loose after multiple firings, a drop of loctite retains it nicely.

I took the .56-50 rimfire Remington split breech carbine to the range again today. I was testing a new load of 34.5 gr of Schuetzen 2F, Rapine 350 bullet and an empty Ramset as a primer. This was giving me around 700fps. It shoots well and I had no perforated primers. I really like this load :-)

While there I made a short video that gives an update on my progress with it.
