My faithful Daisy 901 finally had bad air seals after 11 years of use, decided to junk it out as it needed a whole new piston assembly and I did not like the wiggly way the butt stock would go up and down slightly as it only had 2 screws to hold into place with the receiver.

Over the years on other chat rooms the 880 seems far more popular over the 901, the 901 costs a bit more. It is so little higher in price that perhaps the 880 is much better and cheaper? I also had a Daisy 35 but sold it as it was a smooth bore and I wanted more accuracy.

Anyone have a 880 and why is it so popular.

Thanks.

I have a Daisy 880 that is a piece of sheet. I can't get it to shoot a decent group with either open sights or a scope. It's going on the yard sale as soon as I can figure out what to replace it with. I'm looking strongly at a Crosman MAG - Fire Mission break barrel repeater.

Couldn't you send it in for warranty work?

Our 880 is second only to our Benjamin in accuracy, and for kids, and me, that long D guard pumping handle is lovely in its leverage. The 35 was the most accurate with BB's and is my favorite, powerful cheap gun shootin' cheap ammo. One kid who shot it agreed with me so much that he over pumped it way past the no more than 10 command and the gun now waits quietly for the re-seal kit. A cheap Daisy has a wonderful sense of summertime fun the RWS and similar cannot understand.

I was watching a YT vid recently on the 880. The rifled bore doesn't shoot BBs very well at all, but shines with pellets. If you were shooting BBs, you might want to try pellets.
