Pretty neat. I wouldn't mind owning an FD RX-7.

always interested in those rotary engines. Hard to grasp how a triangle spinning around in a cylinder works until you see it in action.

I enjoyed that. Never really could wrap my mind around the Wankel concept before, always got twisted around the intake and exhaust strokes.

The engine in the video is not a Mazda and is not of Wankle design. It is a complete new engineering concept.
While I am certainly not recommending anyone invest their life savings into Liquiud Piston, I am intrigued by their concept, the light weight, and the compact form of the engine.
This may well prove to be the answer to everything that has always been wrong with the Wankle.
Liquid Piston is talking about building the engine run on diesel. I do not know if that has even made it to prototype yet

Look at the History section of the About Us page: https://www.liquidpiston.com/aboutThat answers a lot of questions.

I have so much trouble with people wearing masks I couldn't stand to watch the three guys talking. Maybe when they can get back to reality I can watch a video in the future.

Ok, Herr Wankel invented the eccentric shaft rotary internal combustion engine. The liquid piston engine is an eccentric shaft rotary, i.e. "Wankel" engine. Not "Wankel designed", as the good man has been dead for nearly 60 years. As such, the "liquid piston engine" (I'll take "bad marketing names for 400", Alex) is an incremental design improvement, rather than a "complete new engineering concept".(I'll take "bad marketing hyperbole for 200", Alex). The biggest differences are the multiple firing points during the cycle and the intake and exhaust port location. These seem to address two of the four or five primary problems with Wankel engines: 1) uneven heating compromising seals due to the combustion taking place at one side of the engine, only, and 2) poor thermal efficiency of the engine due to unburnt fuel washing out of the exhaust port (even though "shooting dragon flames" is quoted by rotary engine fans as one of it's most endearing qualities.....). The problems of seal wear / maintenance, the need for using oil in the combustion chamber to prevent that seal wear, and the emissions problems resulting from that oil consumption are not specifically addressed, which concerns me.

I worked on a few of those rotary engines when they started getting some notoriety and popularity over in America way back when. My early impression was that they would not last here.

I want a twin rotor, in diesel, in a powers! If it can crank fast enough, and it sure should be able. 14-15,000 RPM will do.

Slick Design. Too bad they never read AOC's memo on the new Green Deal.

A 300 hp diesel at 6000 RPM would make a hell of a jet boat motor. If it will make 3000 hrs, it would be a heck of an improvement over the Ford and Chevy gas V8 engines in common use today and would probably be much lighter.
Also imagining it as an outboard.
