Hard to say anymore. Definately a sellers market. I just sold an unfired 700 Classic in 350 Mag without box and 3 boxes of ammo for 1200. In 3 days I sold a nice 1957 model 70 in 257 Roberts for 2500. I would guess around 2000 for your sweet 1873.

looks to be an Antique,(pre 1898), 73 mfg. in 1884. Rifle with crescent butt, standard 24 inch(?) octagon barrel. Serial #140,3xx, mfg. in 1884. Third, and last model, (most common), total production mfg. over 720,000! trap door in butt for cleaning rod. Barrel blue is a lot stronger than the brown, patina magazine tube. Barrel possibly replaced! A good shooter 38-40 cal. Not a lot of Collector Value there! Ballpark based on poor, and limited pics $1000.00!!! Give or take a couple hundred either way! I'd love to know the actual serial # without the xx's for a Winchester survey! If you want you can private message me! Thanks!

I would get a letter from Cody to determine if it’s in original configuration. Would make a big difference in value

Does the barrel have the Winchester Definitive Proof stamp? Is so, it’s a replacement barrel as the W over P Proof stamp was first used in 1906.

I Absolutely agree and like, all the above comments! Trading would benefit both parties in my opinion, but maybe not enhance your pocketbook, to help replace the funds that you've spent on your 99's! So for arguments sake, Condition! Condition! Condition! It's not rare! It's not a High Condition Rifle! A good Honest shooter! It's a standard 73, with a possible replaced Barrel! We aren't really sure of the Bore condition! The wood Butt stock and Forearm, are honest, and do look original, which is good, but many normal dings, mars, and marks, yet not refinished! The receiver is silvered in a pleasant tone, the bluing on the magazine tube is a brown patina, the fore end cap is minus it's blued finish, and starting to turn to a patina, that doesn't really match the magazine tube. The crescent butt's finish is also void, matching the fore end cap. It is possible that the Barrel was replaced with a later Nickel Steel Barrel, which the Letter will state, as will a work up sheet from the Museum records, but if your gonna sell it, why put more $ into it, that won't that you won't re coup! I don't see where a Factory Letter from Cody will get you more $ !!! It is what it is! A good Honest Winchester 1873, MFG. in 1884!

I would invest in the letter. Might find some history there that could add $$. The Winchester Letter, from Cody, will not show you any History! I'm not saying not to get the Letter, just that $75.00 bucks, for non Members, will not show you anything, with the exception, of the possible replaced barrel that better pics, or personal handling from a qualified person, would show. A true Winchester Collector would have knowledge on mfg. marks, stamps, and qualifying measurements! The Letter will not say, "this was Wild Bill Hickok's Rifle" !!!

David you need to shoot some pigs with that thing before you sell it. I sold all the dies, reloading components, like me some 99’s now. All your fault😀
