I had a large box of dog food sitting on top of my gas grill.. I suppose it is four feet off the floor of the deck.. It is sitting next to a stone wall.. Something tore a hole in the box and pulled the brown paper out and barely opened the bag... Do to the position of the box on the grill I felt only a coon could scale the grill and get to the box... I want to set a live trap, but don't want to deal with a skunk on the deck.. Think a skunk could climb the grill and get to the box...??? Thanks..

Nothing surprises me as to how animals can get what they want.

Had some trail cam images from inside our wall tent last fall. Invading coons were all over the place (tables, chairs, cooking counter, etc) and tried every possible container with only a brief stay (like 10 minutes). A visiting skunk only worked the floor, probably for spilled crumbs, but he was at it for over an hour.

Buddy had a pet coon when we were in high school. He could unlatch his own cage in about 15 seconds.

I would’ve thought a coon would have destroyed the box and scattered the contents. A hole in the box sounds like the work of a rodent.
