A good friend had two identical 3M-Phillipson Epoxite EF 76 fly rods, in their respective aluminum travel tubes - he handed me one of them the other day and said "Here, you can have one of these"!

He's not a fly fisherman or even a very interested fisherman at all and I suspect the rod he has still in his possession will never be fished.

I had it out last night for inspection and to see just what I had on my hands and realized that there is no line weight information. I googled the rod and got plenty of feedback, but still nothing to indicate which line would be recommended....?

It's a glass rod, of course. Plenty light and obviously a much slower cast that any of my graphite's.
I don't own a 6 weight rod, but have 3, 5 and 7 weights that I can steal the reels off of to try on the Phillipson - and I guess that's the way to get started....

Any of you know much about these rods and what line weight might be appropriate?

OK, well it looks like I’m able to answer my own question(s).

The rod was made in the mid 70’s by 3M and is one of two awarded to my friend.
It’s 7’6” 2 pc with spigot ferrules, lined for 5/6 wt. Brown glass and no registration number.

3M bought Phillipson and Scientific Angler at about the same time. They produced Phillipson for about two years before retiring the brand. Much of the technology then streamed into the SA brand.

If it’s as good as it’s reported to be, I’m sure I’ll like this rod.
I’ll toss a WF5F on it and see how it fishes on the Rogue and later the Little Deschutes Rivers.

Thanks for looking.
