Other than prairie dogs, what would be a good weekend getaway for a varmit shooter? What would one hunt that can give enough action for a 2 or 3 day trip, and where to go or find more info?

coyotes are always a challenge. they're everywhere, so you probably won't need to look far, just hunt well.
crows are a riot w/ an electronic caller and an owl decoy. if you've never tried it, you should. you won't know how you ever got along w/o them! the action is fast, and you may end up busting a gut laughing so hard when they come screaming in at mach 1 and start dive bombing the decoy, the decoy falls over, and then they are baffled...makin' me laugh just thinking about them...
Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It is much more important than that.

BT is right, those are good sport.
Also good, for us Middle Westerners, is the Groundhog. Farmers will call you in the middle of the night to set up a time for you to blaze away in their alfalfa fields once word gets out, and you will soon have your 'dance card' filled. Some even chip in for my components! I can't wait to start...and soon.
For a getaway? I dunno. Most varmints are fairly close to home, for me at least.
Have fun deciding!
Jonesey
