ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).

From the article "According to the dispatch report, the woman told her husband she had been charged by multiple bears and was discharging bear spray."

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

What a terrifying phone call to receive, I hope her husband went up there to try and find her. Multiple bears and probably an exhausted bear spray can, odd aren't to good but hopefully they find her safe somewhere.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

And once again someone is finding the limits of bear spray.

The latest update: She is still not been found. They have several teams looking.

As a "Side Note" please notice the thickness of the vegetation. This is more directed towards those who are deeply convinced they will have a "fair" chance of deploying their chosen method of self defense. Sometimes you can't see two feet, and sometimes you can't see two inches.

I would think they would’ve had a decent starting location for the search based on the last known position of the cell phone.

They got one... she's not around the last pinged location. It's basically a jungle around there, cant see more then a dozen yards in any direction, with lots of ground fauna about knee to waist high.

Great outcome, considering the call she made to her hubby at 1:30AM

This got me thinking...If a person wanted to disappear from society. Making a call like the woman did, then chucking her cell phone into the bruh and walk away forever.

Could be a plan.

The trail is 26 miles round trip if one goes all the way. Going up the trail at say, 0800 would lead to a return to the car late at night.

The trail is remote by lower 48 standards, but not at all by Alaska standards. The trailhead is about 5 miles from me right now. There's a several hundred houses along the road in the area of the trailhead. While I dont underestimate the idiocy of city people, there are far more better areas to disappear than that trail.

fyi, The trooper dispatch says that the TROOPERS got the call at 0129 am. That doesn't equate to the text from her at 0129.

Based on personal experience, trooper dispatches can vary greatly from the truth.
