I never gave these things much thought but select Lowes had them on sale for under $200 with the veteran discount.

More drunken fun than a person should be allowed:

I've had my coleman 36", 4 burner for a year & absolutely love it !!

Set it up with an overhead range, to keep the fat off our cedar finish.

I'll bet it would be just the ticket for pancakes and sausage, too!

Mighty tasty looking food in those pictures.

The thing is so seasoned now that you cant stick an egg to it if you tried.

The food comes off so clean and free of carbonized bits...its amazing.

I was contemplating a griddle for my Camp Chef believe it or not. But this thing was so cheap I decided against it for the patio.

This is the kind of setup I would prefer.

For cooking goat guts in Guatemala.

4 realz, brah.

Are Blackstone legit? I know nothing about them but this griddle and burners seem solid.

No complaints.

The blackstone are great. I have the pit boss griddle and my brother has the black stone. Both are nice.
Smash burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, grilled cheese, tacos, fajitas it’s endless.
Be sure to keep an eye on the grease catch. They can fill up quickly when your cooking large amounts of delicious food.

Sweet setups guys! Used the typical two burner stoves for car camping for years then decided to give the 17" Blackstone griddle (single burner) a try...game changer. Coleman 425 two burner stove now is on coffee pot duty.

That looks great Jim.

I looked at the camp chef before I got the Blackstone. The camp chef is a cut above, definitely better made.

I got the Blackstone because between a sale and a discount it was cheap and I can be a tightass. Its been great so far though.

I agree, but being rural, not an option for us.

Would love nothing more, than a gas range !

Which one is that?

My brother runs natural gas to his Weber and was asking about natural gas griddles to go with it.

Bought a 36 inch Black Stone about 6 weeks ago. Three weeks later we gave our gas grill away. Wife might love it even more than I do. Can fry up a mess of fried taters with very little mess to clean up. Makes the best smashed burgers ever. Should of bought one decades ago when we used to RV camp often.

Yeah they are insanely handy/fun.

Last night a did a pound of shrimp, then combined that with some leftover dirty rice from the night before. Browned it all up. Good God. The girls devoured that schit.

Fajita's are no joke on this thing either.

Which one is that?

My brother runs natural gas to his Weber and was asking about natural gas griddles to go with it.

It's the 36" Blackstone. They sell a kit on line that has the new orifices and supply hose. Seems like it was about $45.00 and took maybe 30 minutes to install.

Here's the kit.

A friend of mine has a bit smaller version. He cooks steaks on it to very favorable reviews. He doesn't use butter or oil, he uses lard.

It’s rolled steel but I seasoned the hell out of it before I used it.

Once it’s seasoned you can use whatever the dish requires.

No different than cast iron.

I’m kind of surprised people would dump a gas grill for one.

I can see where it would be great for some stuff, but past burgers can you cook steak and chicken breasts on it ?

Yep, you sure can !

Super hard sear the steaks & move them to a lesser heat zone, to finish.

Chicken breast, medium heat is your friend.

Damned thing is seasoned so well, you can do eggs, pancakes, veges, basically what ever you want.

i run the flat top at our church fundraisers. its fun but hectic. at camp i use my presto and two fry babies and run a regular open air Mels Diner on family weekends. bacon, eggs, pancakes, french toast, taters, hash, etc. looking forward to next weekend. all cooking will be done in the pavillion or on the fire.

I put Grill Grates on my gas grill. The nifty thing is that if you turn them over (when they're cold, you moron...) they become a griddle. Uber handy for things like salmon and veggies. Not quite a "flattop" like you'd find at a genuine diner, but damn close.

Not sure why, but when we make smash burgers on the Blackstone they cook evenly and do not swell up and get thick in the middle like they do on a gas grilll.

thanks I was thinking about finding a grill with half griddle, and the rest grill…. I didn’t get what you meant by Grill Grates - they are Griddles that go on a Grill.

Cool !

Did you go to the link? Grill Grates are replacement grates that go on a grill (duh) and have raised ribs on one side but flat on the other. They're one step short of black magic in how well they cook.

I use Grill Grates in every competition I cook because they provide pretty grill marks, but I rarely use them at home. I have also cooked a bunch of burgers and brats on the flat side and while good, because of the drain holes in the GG it's not the same. Not even close. Just my opinion after cooking on both.

Foe show.

One of my favorite things to make.

I created my own version. It’s more white/better.

What do you change up? About the only thing not authentic when I do them is the bread mainly because there's no Cuban bakeries in my part of the country. I also see some made with brown or whole grain mustard, but I'm a yellow mustard guy.

I use Cuban or Media Noche bread. Just kinda depends how drunk I am.

Pork tenderloin. Pickles (I'm pretty specific about the brand and type) and beet horseradish.

It's been a huge success every time and I've made them for a wide range of demographics.

You can do whatever variation of course but the horseradish and tenderloin seem to be loved by all.

That pic is the white version.

Euro-trash stores are usually a LOT more flavorful.

But it is delicious.

Flave..I went looking for the same BlackStone Griddle you bought the day you posted....Everywhere out of stock on backorder.

Last night I checked again...Bingo, winner-winner, chicken dinner. Back in stock @ $206 bucks delivered. Delivers Wednesday.

I bought some grill accessories package for $32 bucks. Spatch, cleaning tools, a couple of squeeze bottles for IDKW just yet and a round bowl type cover to place over maybe something with cheese on it to melt.

Question....I’ve seen short order cooks use a squeeze bottle filled with what looked like water and one with melted butter?

They squirt the hash browns, I think.....What’s in the bottles, and what’s the secret, if any, for good grilling.

Most of the time they will have one with clarified butter, one with oil and one with water for steaming.

Most common is vegetable oil and water. The water helps break schit free, the oil is what you cook with.

Those are just starters. You can use whatever. Except the water. You'll always need a bottle of water on a griddle like these.

Water for steam. Get ya some artificial butter flavored oil, like Whirl, for the other squeeze bottle.

You'll be cranking out Waffle House quality food in no time! 😁

Yes and it's a very simple/slick setup. None of that measuring spring loaded bullschit.

Where the griddle goes, the tank goes.

Not to bust in on a pork discussion, but beet horseradish is one of the gifts of the baby Jesus. It's also easy to make at home, and you can make it less sweet and more of a sinus clearing thing, but that jarred stuff is really dang good for store bought anything.

Then again, I just landed in SF and the train is full of freaks smoking pot, so maybe I'm just enjoying the contact high as the two gay guys smoking closest to me are taking a nap together on that seat.

Thanks for asking, Mr Jim. I'm just getting in town and by the time this Snoop themed train arrives where I'm heading my mom will be in bed for the night, so I'll see her in the morning.

In the meantime, I sure do have the munchies... More Cubano pictures, please!

That pic is the white version.

Euro-trash stores are usually a LOT more flavorful.

But it is delicious.

Anybody tried one of these Blackstone griddles that has the air fryer?

Had a few beers with a bud last night and he is thinking about purchasing one.

Well, I am NOT a Blackstone fan, for a number of reasons:

1) I have 2 buddies with Blackstones and they have BOTH developed warps. The heating is uneven under the cooking surface, and the thin, overseas crappy (~11 gauge) 1/8" top is prone to warping.
2) The units I used have SIGNIFICANT hot spots and cool spots and for a big load of food, requires rotating food around for an even cook.
3) Why buy another rolling unit to take up more room when there are FAR better griddle cooking alternatives that fit my needs?
4) Why spend $200+ when there are better options for half the price?

Having cooked on my buddy's Blackstone, and having seen how they break in, I decided to go this route:

https://steelmadeusa.com/collections/outdoor-cooking/products/flat-top-for-outdoor-grill#

7 gauge (~3/16" thick), US made steel. It fits perfectly on my 5 burner pro-series Member's Mark grill. Less footprint, heavier steel, retains heat better with NO "hot spots" like those I have experienced on the Blackstones, and HALF the price. And, I can take it camping (have used it over the campfire - works great!)

I see considerable hot spots on this "independant" test !

It is really all about how you heat the unit & how you cook within "your" limitations !

Being that the blackstone has only 2 burners, how many were use on that steelmade ?

No lying now, ya gimp !

Well, it was a good try, but you are either stupid, or disingenuous.

You cherry picked a picture of a RANGE TOP model, on top of an ELECTRIC, 4 BURNER RANGE. (not even remotely the application I posted about)...

Do YOU think it would heat unevenly on a crappy 4 burner electric range? Yea, so do I. Which is why I would never use it in that manner. In fact, having the griddle that close to the heat source is exactly why the Blacktone warps (spotty, DIRECT heat, versus more distant, indirect heat)

So, thanks for making my point for me.

Nice deflection, retard.

Typical of your type.

Stick to something that you can actually engage in logical conversation about.

You know, like your semi professional, advanced amateur wood working skills.

How did that thread work out for you, again ?

Enjoy your dessert coffee, with your friends.

Oh, that's right, you don't have any !

They're just "business" acquaintances, that you have to pay for, to break bread together.

Sad, that you're life is so, so rudimentarily pathetic !

Looks to me the thermal image '99 posted was for a gas range as captioned in the image.

Do you know if Steelmade uses integral stiffners on the underside of the their griddle? Blackstone utilizes welded angle stock on the underneath side to address warping....seems like a smart thing to do and adds considerable stiffness to the griddle plate.

The thermal image Steelmade presents for a Blackstone doesn't make a lot of sense given the burner pattern (I'm seeing 8 individual burners) doesn't match their product line of either individual strip burners (their larger area surface griddles) or H-burners (their smaller surface area griddles).

I guess I've used enough thermal imaging to be skeptical of pretty pictures without any other info. The color palette gradient is based on temperature resolution over the temps captured by the sensor and not absolute temps. Usually there's a gradient scale on the side of the image that tells the story.

All this talk of cooking on a Griddle, got me very interested.. My stepdaughter has a small one, but I wanted one for my house.. We all spend a lot of time there, hanging out, shooting, fishing, camping etc.. She knew more about them than I so we got one coming. Not sure the model but about 300$.. We try it out when she comes back up ... Some of you folks eat a lot of elk meat... I maybe stuck in the same boat next year ... She has a new to her 700-.270 and was shooting it very well at 200 yards.. She drew a cow elk permit for this fall and I have a couple elk licenses.. Haven't had to eat elk venison for several years.. I am afraid that is going to change.. Hope the griddle helps..

She has a new to her 700-.270 and was shooting it very well at 200 yards.. She drew a cow elk permit for this fall and I have a couple elk licenses.. Haven't had to eat elk venison for several years.. I am afraid that is going to change.. Hope the griddle helps..

Nice on all counts, WCH.

We got the griddle.. A 36" 4 burner job.. My daughter cooked bacon and pancakes on it this morning.. She told me just a second ago, tonight it is potatoes, corn, shrimp, and steak!! I think it is all on the griddle but the corn and I might be wrong on that.. She loves to cook and really loves this griddle.. Thanks for all the help!!
