A silly question maybe, but have they made these easier to open? When? I'm a very casual beer drinker.

Do people even use bottles anymore? Seems cans have taken over.

I'm not a big beer drinker, so I wouldn't know about that. laugh

When I was a teenager, everyone who thought they were cool carried a "church key" on their key chain. I have carried one for years out of habit. Does the rest of the country even use the term, church key?

Bottled beer is the only way to go. Twist or pry off are ok with me.

A church key gets you into heaven. Mine was likely older than me, Felix Ginger Ale, I found it in my uncles stuff at granny's .

Twist-off caps were designed for the pseudo-tough guys so they could feel manly even though they couldn't pop off the real caps with their teeth.

Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.

They have been in use for years, but were always tough to twist off. Not now. Or maybe I am getting stronger as I age. 😄

I was at the agency store and they carry a pile of US brands. Molson got bought out by Coors a few years ago. I think Labatts was bought out as well.

They were different, that's for sure.

We used to say that the new bottles were indications that Canada was becoming Americanized.

At a couple of clubs I frequent, there is more American beer than Canadian behind the bar. Labatt's Blue used to be the biggest seller at both gun clubs. Now, it's Coors Lite.

I knew it would come to me a day or two later later. Budweiser and Labatts are both owned by a Belgium multinational, Interbrew. .Bud in Canada tastes al ot like Labatts Blue , or more to the point, doesn't taste . Interbrew chose to use Bud for North America marketing.

Have an I,
Have an I,
Have an IPA
Everybody have an IPA!
Hey, hey. Open up the happy door!

Cans, or draft or bottles,
It's our favourite brew!
We drink Carling Red Cap.
We are drinkers true!

When you're smiling,
Drink Labatt's Blue
And the whole world smiles with you!

When you eat your Smarties,
Do you eat the red ones last?
Do you suck them very slowly?
Or crunch them very fast?

Gone are the jingles that made us who we are...

For while, 1987 I think, they were in between stubbies, and long necks, with the loco painted on.

So when did they start using twist off caps? I recall seeing them in the early 70’s. Can’t recall if they were around in the 60’s.

When you get one that isn’t a twist off, and you don’t tune in ?
Must be Cross Threaded ! Ha Tears the hide off your fingers !

Pop it off with a flat blade screwdriver, and your finger knuckle for leverage.
