when I opened a second box of those .357 Hornady 125 grain XTP bullets yesterday and counted them, there were only 98 bullets. One of the bullets though was a 240 grain .44 bullet, so the weight was just about right for the QC check.
I called them today and gave them the product code and lot number, and told him I didn't want anything, just to report the shortage and the weirdness of finding that other bullet in there.
He said the least he could do was to send me some bullets, so I said OK.

Hornady has always been pretty good about such things. We've stopped by their plant on two occasions, without any appointments or anything, and gotten plant tours, they were very accommodating, regarding such things. We had a fun time with their range techs, and looking over their test range. I was pretty happy (at the time) to see the machine making V-Max bullets spitting out a bullet about every 2/3s of a second. IIRC, they said they could make 50,000 a day with one machine! We were always coming back from a prairie dog shoot or something when we stopped in.
I've been to the Sierra plant in Sedalia MO, a time or three, also, both companies are very good to visitors just stopping by.

I had a similar experience with a box of their .30 caliber 150 grain flat nose which I use for my .30-30. Sent them an e-mail and they sent me a sample pack of 10. I use a lot of Hornady and will continue to do so.

Yeah, I like Hornady too.

I like Hornady a lot and have been very loyal to them over the years .... but I am not crazy about their die sets.

They're a good company, they make very good bullets and presses and they tend to be on the cutting edge of load development when it comes to new cartridges ... like the 6mm ARC and the 338 and 308 MX.

I have loaded Hornady bullets for nearly 50 yrs., I'm not so anally retentive as to count the number of bullets in a box. I like the seater in Hornady die sets, it produces some very accurate ammo, the sizer's decapping rod just plain sucks. They need to put some threads on it like other manufacturers, the collet arrangement is a POS !

Ditto on the die sets.

They fixed that several years back. Still uses a collet, but it and the rod are threaded so it doesn't slip as it did before.

Dark ages????? It weren't that long ago. I still remember buying 101 per box.

I remember that too. Does anybody know, did they end that when they moved to Sedalia, MO from CA?
