That looks like no ulu I've ever seen, nothing like the ulus that are used everyday up here.

Custom knife makers are like micro breweries. They're everywhere, and they think their concoctions are unique and are the sht

Fk all the worthless micro brews they're all the same and they have no lineage. You drink a smithwicks, a bass ale or a guinness. That beer reeks of hundreds of years of tradition, inebriation and fetal alcohol syndrome, bred into the beer makers, for centuries before them.

I have 3 western models including a Knives of Alaska version (a little small in my book). Western models have end support with space beneath the handle in the middle. Eastern version has center post support, and I've not tried one yet. Still not used to a blade beveled on one side only as the bevel tends to direct the blade toward the flat face. I've not tried one for fleshing a larger hide, but suspect that aspect might minimize cutting the skin.

So, is the one sided sharpening bevel the standard for ulus?
If so, do you flip it over for different jobs?

Very nice Bob, and a cool design, real cool design actually, but a little more than I wanna spend.

Jud,

I had no idea they were that expensive. More than I would spend as well. I just seen it on their page when he created the model. I’d hit up some of the no-kidding AK boys. Us skid row bums gotta hang together! <grin>

Make mine from OLD handsaw blades. They really throw the sparks.
I sell at the Tx. Trapper rendezvous. Guys use them on beaver, But
usually to chop up salsa makings in a bowl. Axis antler handles.
