Gee, you mean the ruling overlords wanted to take away the guns and ammunition of the subjects ? That sure has a familiar ring to it. It used to be that we had one Lord and the moto of those minute men mentioned by Wabigoon and friends was "NO KING BUT JESUS!" That was the battle cry. King George was considered to have violated his authority and it was taught by the preachers, the black regiment. Follow up 22250rem, We are in the modern era with the same situation. Thanks for posting this and thanks to all our vets! Glad you enjoyed some little talked about, but rich history. Many vets gave their all. I'm very grateful for the sacrifices and realize that I enjoy the liberties today at the expense of those who are no longer with us.

My father was born in 1928 and remembers when Civil War veterans were still alive. I'm sure that it is not unrealistic to think that some of those may have been alive at the same time as the last of the Revolutionary War veterans. My point being that we are not that far removed from that era if you consider that you could converse with my father today about the fact that he may have been able to talk to people that remembered the last of the Revolutionary War vets.

Captain, That's my favorite way to learn history. I love to hear the old folks 90+ talk about details that you would have a hard time finding in any history book. They remember what it was like and what would normally go overlooked. It does make the last couple hundred years seem shorter when looked at that way doesn't it?
