I ordered a AlphaWolf Stock Length Barrel for my Gen 2 10 mm Glock yesterday. I am planning on switching over to Underwood 200 Grain Hard Cast Flat Nose for my woods-carry round. Do any of you have any experience with Wolf barrels and 10 mm Hard Cast bullets?

Well I sure wouldn't have wasted money on an aftermarket barrel. I would've put that money towards more ammo.

The Truncated Cone Flat Nose is the deepest penetrating bullet profile - way better than so-called "extreme penetrator" (a marketing gimmick sortof like The Judge).

Dont know about the barrel, but the ammo is great. Unless you are going to shoot a LOT of it, i would just use the glock barrel

I purchased my Glock Model 20 when they were first introduced. So, I thought for a $150.00 for a ss Wolf barrel I would solve any potential case head and leading issues that I might encounter with the Underwood ammo.

same with me, and fired a lot of lead stuff with no issues.
think the original load was 200grain at 1200fps.
works for me.

I'm doing similar with a Block 21 set up with a 9" Dasan Machine barrel using 45 Super loads from Buffalo Bore. They hit with authority. Be Well, RZ.

I have shot the Underwood 200 hard cast out of my G20 with no problems. I only fired one magazine through it to ensure function. Accurate and shot fine. It’s my woods carry gun.

I have shot them out of my 29 without any issues. Gotta hold on tight though!

I got two boxes of 220's and a box of 200 to try in my Glock 20. Being coated I would doubt any issues will come up with a stock barrel. You guys that run these in your Glocks do you stick with the stock recoil spring or run a heavier one?

I run a 22# spring in my Glock 20. Shell casings dont fly as far and repeat shots are faster.

It's still 100 reliable using Underwood 200 gr hard cast, Underwood 180 gr Gold Dots, and my handloads using 180 Delta Precision hollow points, 200 grain XTP and Gold Dots, and 200 gr Montana Bullet Works hard cast. I recently loaded up some 180 Swift A Frames which so far have shot well.

I did go with a 6 inch KKM stainless barrel, which gives additional velocity over the stock barrel. Depending on the load, I get between 75 fps and 125 additional fps with the same exact load, just by changing barrels. My 180 loads are around 1300 and the 200's are around 1200 fps, using book loads. The longer barrel helps.

I use a #22 lb. spring on a polished stainless rod. The weight of the stainless rod up front and heavier than factory spring weight make 220's @ 1200 fps a piece of cake. I have never had my G20 choke on anything I've run through it and most of my practice stuff is closer to the watered down FBI load than full power 10 mm.

20# captured and Buffalo Bore 180gr JHP. Factory tube. Works well with lighter loads too.
Can't see a potential problem with Underwood loads either.

Your not supposed to shoot lead billets in Glock barrels.

Like others have posted, I use a 10mm as a woods gun. Mine is a Sig P220. I carry the 200gr Underwood HC load. Usually carry it while grouse hunting in Northern Michigan. Seems a 28ga is marginal against black bears.

One day while back at the truck while hunting grouse, enjoying a sandwich and a Mt Dew, hunting buddy asked about my sidearm. Why carry and auto, when a 357 or 44 revolver is gonna penetrate way more, yada yada yada.

Was a good sized white pine near by.

Center punched the tree.

10mm HC kept on going.

A couple of years ago on a cow elk hunt with some friends, I tested penetration of a Montana Bullet Works 200 grain hard cast lead handload, Underwood 200 grain lead flat nose hard cast, and Underwood 200 grain full metal jacket bullets on cow elk skulls. My handload and the Underwood lead flat nose hard cast completely penetrated two large fresh cow elk skulls. Those bullets, 2 shots each, were not recovered. The Underwood full metal case rounds (2 shots) broke up in the first skull. Recovered pieces of jacket and bullet told me the jacket was made of very thin, brittle material. The lead also broke up and seemed brittle as well. The FMC round was accurate and functioned fine in my G20, but it was not a penetrator.

I ran about 50 rounds of factory ammo through my G-20 with my new Wolf barrel. I had two fail to completely return to battery events. A good smack to the slide was all that was needed to get running again-but this is totally unacceptable and Wolf is probably going to get this barrel back.

I had the same issue with an Alpha Wolf barrel in my 29. Everyday for about a week I picked that gun up and racked the slide a few hundred times and the problem went away. It's been perfect ever since.

How does it feed. A friend has a 220 and he has problems with the BB Outdoorsman load.
