Looks unremarkable to me. Typical nonsense YouTube feel good video. What’s going to happen if he shoots the bullet into a deer and the expected results of the recovered bullet are not the same? Hilarious that the 1/2” group raised his confidence in his Tennessee deer rifle. I wonder how far his average shot is on deer there.
I love Sierra bullets for accuracy and I have shot quite a few critters with the 30 cal 180 and 165 BTSP gameking. The cores separated about half of the time so I was surprised that they stayed together for him.

Yeah these bullets have quite a high failure rate. Not even on my radar, but buy whatever you like I guess.

In this case core/jacket separation and fragmentation.
Did it kill the animal?
Really? Just because a bullet kills an animal does NOT mean it lived up to design performance.
Some things just won’t go away.

So true, however if the result in question is not a claim made by the manufacturer then its not a failure. For example, I don’t see any claims made by Sierra that the GameKing is designed to retain its jacket, therefore if it looses its jacket, it’s not a failure.
I’ve got some 165 SGK sent to me by mistake but they shoot well, actually close to my hunting load POI. Never been a fan of boolits known to come apart. We’ve got a cougar hanging around and they have his name on it…..Sylvester

Exactly. Gut shooting an animal with a 22 will kill it. That doesn't mean it's an effective and humane means of hunting.
Similarly, the wounds from frangible bullets will eventually kill and animal. But the animal may go a very long way. The whole purpose of a well though out hunting bullet is to maximize the chance of an expanded straight-line pass through. That way you damage whatever vital organ(s) and support bones you lined up your shot on, and have a good exit wound blood trail to follow if the animal doesn't go do wn immediately.
The SGK is a failure at this basic task. There are plenty of bullets that do it much, much better. Now, people can shoot whatever the hell they want within the game laws, but a smart hunter will use a better bullet. The cost is trivial compared to the benefit.

Only "failures" I get from em is the deer fail to live.
Yeah they separate and yeah they are hard on meat but they kill like lightning.
Been around Sierras more than any other bullets in the last 40sh years. The sumbitches flat ass kill critters.
Sure I kill deer w Partitions, Interlocks and several others but I can't see that they work a lick better than Sierras on little old whitetails.

The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!
If you are using a heavy-ish for caliber bullet at a moderate speed, I think Sierra GK bullets are great for deer. It's when they are used up close and cranked up near 3,000fps or are lightweights with low SD that things get dicey with them coming apart. Not much different than other cup/cores like Powerpoints, Speer BT, Core-Lokt, etc. Cup/cores like this are great killers in the 7mm-08 and .308 and often exit.
The next year she used a 130 Nos PT. This year she is using a 150 Horn SP. The 140 .277 Game Changer worked great for us but so does a bunch of other bullets.
