Go with the 4 stroke if you can . I upgraded my 2012 Mercury 90 to a 2019 90hp four stroke 2 years ago .
Quieter , no fumes or worrying about 2 cycle oil . It probably gets 1/3 more runtime on a tank of gas .

Go with an all aluminum welded hull , it will out last you .

Lots of good information has been passed! The thing I see missing, is thinking you can get by with one boat!

Yea, those Trackers catch my eye - seems like a great setup, easy to use.

Good luck.

Thank you, sir. I have thoroughly enjoyed that boat. It's over 21 years old now and still going strong.

Oh yeah, it's a Tolman Skiff. https://www.tolmanskiffs.com/

Yeah, I thought I recognized the Tolman style. Lots of home builders have been successful with those.

The old Bayliner/Trophy boats can be a deal or a hot mess.

Most of the hulls aren't a bad design and can be great boats.
The issue is rotten transom, decks, stringers, funnel caps, gas tanks, etc..... Then there is all the cheap fasteners, shoddy wiring and 25- 30+ year old poorly maintained 2 strokes. They are the kind of boat that spurred all the talk of "best 2 days as a boat owner are when you buy it and when you sell it."

With some careful shopping and some work they can be a great deal.

Considering what my neighbor paid me for a 2004 model Northwoods pontoon with a 40hp Mercury bigfoot 4-stroke, now is a good time to be selling, which means it's a bad time to be buying.....

Good info. I’d stick with aluminum boats in the $3500 price point

Just a note to say I got my Kayak. I drove down to South Western Colorado and met Sock Puppet and bought one from him. Cool boat! ]
it's beyond my current abilities, but I intend to change that as soon as I can.

This is a boat I can grown into instead of growing beyond.
