Hubert the doc must not feel that it’s an immediate, dire, pressing emergency or you’d probably be in surgery already, one would think.

Two older relatives have them and their sizes are being monitored every several months or so. No I’ll effects to date for either and they lead normal lives for their respective ages.

Best of luck, Pard.

I've not had the experience but my father suffered from an aneurysm in 1965 and died a couple of weeks after surgery. He was in a very good hospital and good neurosurgeons. That was, however, 1965 so I imagine that the neurosurgeons, their techniques, equipment, and medicines are much more advanced.

I wish you the best and a complete recovery.

A bleed inside the skull is not good - and would expect that you will need a precise vascular surgeon - maybe with a neuro doc in the room. Modern imaging is probably precise enough for them to monitor sufficiently in the meantime. I wish you every success with any surgery and a quick/full recovery.

My uncle was diagnosed with an aneurysm about a decade ago. The procedure for his involved inserting a platinum wire coiled up within the bulge to reinforce it and prevent it from ever bursting. He was 66 then and 10yrs hence has had no issues that I’m aware of. Still cuts wood everyday to the tune of about 40fc per year.

I hope the docs choose and execute a plan that’s equally successful for you, Hubert. You have my prayers for a successful outcome.

Do you have symptoms? How did they discover it?

I have never heard where they can take their time about it either, kinda weird I thought.
I suppose there is different levels of seriousness about them ?

Didn't you tell us you had terminal cancer as well? How does that diagnosis affect this?

If it is an aneurysm, go immediately to a good radiologist and get it taken care of right away. In about 50% of aneurysms the patients die, and about 25% have mild to severe stroke symptoms afterwards.

Aneurysms are as serious as a heart attack. My good buddy died from his, a person I worked with wife, survived but can’t walk due to the aneurysm, or sub arachnoid tear.

Get it done now!

Go get it taken care of IMMEDIATELY !!!!! I lost my mother to a brain aneurysm in 1974 at 44 years old, never sick a day in her life and she was gone as it burst.

Don't fool around and wait, even a slight increase in blood pressure from getting aggravated at something can cause them to burst.

Get it immediately and you'll be fine, good luck.

The 50% fatality is roughly correct for ruptured cerebral aneurysms - his is not ruptured.

While a good a interventional neuroradiologist can handle most situations, my strong personal preference would be an endovascular neurosurgeon if one is available. If things go really awry, they have more options.

Good luck to you Hubert.

Are you sure that's what they did? Aneurysms burst outward like a balloon. Your description sounds more like a stent to open a blocked artery.

My first wife was pregnant with my oldest when she had an aneurysm start leaking. This was in 93. After about a week trying to get it diagnosed she was operated on. The aneurysm was clamped, but the surgery caused the brain to swell and she spent about 20 days in the hospital.

My Dad had one at our Business in Ohio in 1982. Drove himself to the hospital. Docs sent him down to Florida for 6 weeks. He came back in 4 and went back to work. It never caused him any other issue that I know of. He died last year of an unrelated illness.
On another note a girl I was in college with got up one morning and came out into her living room. She told her roommates she was feeling tired and was going back to bed. They came back from classes a few hours later and found her dead in her bed. They said she died of a brain aneurysm.
I suppose they have made good progress in diagnosis and treatment since then.

It's not so good to have one and not know it. Now it can be monitored.
