I purchased a Gamo S[Linked Image]warm Fusion 10X G2 in 22 caliber.
The first thing I did was run a dry patch through the bore and examine it with my bore scope. Now, I am a total new guy when it comes to air rifles, but this makes no sense to me. The rifling in the barrel starts at the breech with no chamber area and simply stops at about 1/2" from the end of the barrel. For all the world the thing looks like the barrel is mounted backward. There is no crown as such. See the attached pictures.
Am I looking at this backward or I simply do not understand air gun barrels. Anybody scoped a Gamo rifle?

I don't know schit about air rifles, but I believe you are correct that the barrel has been mounted backwards.
But, how does it shoot? 😉

Edit: Or maybe it's a "choked" barrel.
