Buck / Bucky .. man they grow fast, he’s a DD I’ve posted about…. I”m prepping the puppy room, and have all the stuff so we’re ready to go.

I pick him up Monday morning … it’s going to be a fun day.

Mornin, that colour I've never saw. What a looker that one is. Good choice. Boy oh boy it's gonna be a long 4 days!!!!!! Bet you'll not get much sleep the last two nights??? Post as many pics as ya can, I'll be waiting. Actually post new picks every week or two and let us know how things are coming along. I want another one so bad, but I'm older now and I could go before the dog. Don't want someone else to have to raise a dog they didn't pick. Anyway I'm out, good luck. Bill 🐾👣🐾👣🐾👣

I originally wanted a traditional brown one, but the breed said he likes the black ones.. so I started looking at them - and sure enough I do too.

Your pup is sure good looking! The adventure is about to begin!

I got a black and white from Treborwolf Kennels around 20 years ago. According to Bob West the gene for black and white is dominant over the liver and white coloring.

Interesting article by Bob on the black and white:

If there is a drawback they disappear in the house when lying down. Very easy to trip over one with the shadow camo.

Day 1 lessons

A) Drahthaar’s have a BIG prey drive so puppies like to attack things and chew on them

B) They also have a major people attachment so they want to be next to you or on you…all the time.

A + B without a puppy chew toy - YOU or your clothes are the chew toy….

———-
Day 1 Observations

He retrieves everything I toss for him.
He looks me in the eye when going into / out of the house or through gateways for feedback
He already listens to No… and is starting to get it.
He checks on my ever couple of minutes when he is tear arsing though the lawn and flower beds
He sits just where you want a dog (just off your left leg) and time he comes back to hang with you

For Day 1…. Wow !!

It is great for Bucky to have another dog at your home. Much of his puppy energy will be spent harassing the older dog which is better than you! The older dog will help in the training too. Hope you have a great summer with him. Going to hunt him this fall?

I’ll take him to the game farm where we don’t have to walk far this fall.

If his first day is any indication, he’s going to be a great handling bird dog…

I think you will love the journey with that guy. Big feet on him, he'll be solid one I bet. Neat how he has so much interest in checking in with you. That makes life a lot easier later.

These have held up a long time with my drahts. Others types have been destroyed in minutes but this one keeps taking the abuse for months now.
