Thinking about having my Stoeger 19 Barrel tactical shotgun threaded for chokes. Of course Beretta Benelli Mobil choke system is the obvious choice. Being as I can make it any type choke I wanted is there an advantage to others like longer choke systems ? Don't know if it would be practical to have the forcing cones lengthened and all that kind of stuff on this deal or not

Most all shogun barrels are not thick enough to thread for factory chokes/cut or uncut....thin wall chokes are most likely you're only option. Choices are slim...Briley and they're used to be a manufacturer named Colonial might be one more.

Draw backs it's an pretty expensive job and you are limited to the thin wall chokes made by the thin wall choke manufacturer.
I had an old Winchester 101 O/Ur 20ga. did last year by Briley cost was a little over $500.

Yeah I need to take it to a gunsmith and let them check it out and tell me if it's possible dial Caliper not digital, wall thickness .080 I know that's kind of right at the edge of stuff and see what the gunsmith tells me. I don't know of longer choke tubes without lengthening the forcing cones are worth the money or not or just stick with like a mobile choke system

What do you hope to achieve with choke tubes vice fixed choke?

Tighten up patterns with some loads , longer distance patterns with buckshot

I would first consider different, probably higher quality loads as these would likely have the desired effect. Most often, with a gun for defensive purposes, open patterns are more highly sought than close ones.

In any case, as others above have mentioned, work on that gun is probably not worth the effort.

If you can get your hands on the Federal LE Tactical Buck with the Flite Control wad you should have some decent patterns from a fixed Cylinder or Improved Cylinder barrel. The Federal Flite Control buck is most common in 00 Buck but the real deal pipe hitting load is the #1 Buck. With 16 .30 caliber pellets it wrecks any target out front.

Just a bit of an update on this thread I started some time ago. Against some advice I went to a couple local gunsmith and found one that could thread shotgun Barrel. Only drawback was he was only set up to do Remington chokes which we talk through things really wouldn't be that big a deal. So I let him do this I had way more than enough wall thickness in the barrel and everything worked perfectly and cost me a hundred and fifty bucks.

Shot it some on pattern board (buck shot) seemed reasonable. How would I know if it's not concentric?

yep. oct 22-23. 23rd is the main event. same venue as last time. but...bring some bucks! we're playing some calcuttas at the end of the match. itll give everyone a chance to win back their entry fee.
lmk asap. we'd like to tidy up the tickets before we leave va and shut down mail.

if your tube was non concentric, it would plant the pattern waaaay off center. btw, remchokes are good. battle proven. been around a long time. you did good.

Beginning of the year, against the advice of some of the experts here, I had Rose Action Sports thread a Beretta Al-2 and supply 3 Carlton tubes in I/C, Mod and Full. All pattern very well. Very nice job for about $170 tmd.
